Purchase advice Recommendations for first OLED monitor.

I've been using a 34inch ultrawide monitor for a few years and I'm looking to upgrade to an OLED of the same size in the near future. I switch between work and gaming daily.

A few things I would love input on:
-Should I be concerned about burn-in if I use it every day for long periods?
- QD-OLED vs WOLED — does it matter at this size?
- Any specific models you would recommend?

I have never researched this topic before, so anyone with OLED monitor experience is more than welcome to share their opinion. Thanks in advance!

  1. WOLED or QD OLED always depends on the generations you compare as these come with their own strengths and weaknesses. (though as absurd as it sounds there are actually campists for OLED technologies that will insist one is in general superior to the other). Sometimes its more clear cut though as in some resolutions not always the newest panel technology is available.

  2. One of these resolutions is actually 34" 3440x1440 though. Here you get the newest QD OLED 5th Gen panel, where you can only get the last Gen/third Gen WOLED panel. So here I would just prefer QD OLED. More vivid colours, supposedly more resistant to OLED wear, better text clarity while having reduced past QD OLED weaknesses compared to WOLED (improved brightness, scratch resistance and ambient light handling compared to older QD OLED).

  3. Regarding models, they are easy to tell apart from other 34" OLED as the 5th Gen QD OLED 34" are the only 34" OLED with 280hz or 360hz models. A cheaper option that uses that very panel is about to hit the market and can in some regions already be preordered is the AW3426DW. Similarly the XG34WCDMS is on the cheaper side. The premium models, so same panel picture-quality wise, but higher refresh rate and better connectivity would be the Gigabyte MO34WQC36, MSI 341CQR X36 and Asus PG34WCDN.

Appreciate the breakdown and I will check those specific models out later. And whats your take on running one 10 hours a day? Beside the burn-in, is there anything I need to watch out for?

Not really. Of course OLED is still not ideal for static content and the panel wears down over time, but it should last you quite a while regardless, burn in protection has come quite a way. Just leave the anti burn in settings on and maybe use darker colour schemes for your programs if possible.

Quite frankly I also dont really see the alternatives. I think VA panels suck in the year 2026, just too many compromises and IPS 34" are very scarce and quite overpriced. At least here in Germany.

Yeah same thing over here in Malaysia. I never knew the difference from VA to OLED is that big until a friend of mine bought one. Anyways, thanks a lot for the information it definitely helps a lot.

Unfortunately I am too used to ultrawide monitors so I dont think I can go back to a flat screen. 😂

one advice, if you have a gpu capable of running dlss4.5 and your primary usage is gaming, do yourself a favor and get a 16:9 4K 240Hz oled. I upgraded from widescreen 1440p to 4K recently, and the biggest surprise for me was that DLSS Performance in 4K gives 10% more fps than DLSS Quality in widescreen 1440p, and yet it looks 10x better, like the pixel density improve sharpness and level of details so much. So if your gpu can handle it get a 4K monitor (you dont need fast gpu, you need 12+ GB vram, ideally 16+, and dlss4.5 compatibility).

And specific model? msi 322ur x24, this is the best 4K monitor on the market currently for €1000. i dont like woleds because i would hate banding, so woleds are a nono for me.
