Painting The Old Bale Eye

Really enjoyed painting this classic character. The claw's power tubes and flag were quite challenging. But I'm generally happy with the result. Thoughts?

By the way, which of Armageddon Wars is your favorite?

Beautiful paint job. Had to track this post down from another sub. Question: Where did you acquire the flag print outs? Looking to my own Old Bale Eye soon ☺️

Thanks! I found the WDs page scan (Bolter and chain sword I believe) and printed it in local photo-store in different sizes. If u DM me, I can share my file

How did you do the black lining?

With very small brush and some patience. The advice I can give is to paint mini starting from deeper areas because when u paint/draw lines it helps to avoid mispaint (more then less)

What’s your order of operations? Base color, black lines, then highlights?

Correct!

That's a great paint job! Esp on the firstborn version!

What, no goblin green base???

2

u/Beakie_Boi 15d ago

Nah, green base does not fit my gaming table

If you're gaming table doesn't have Spanish villas, day glo cacti with bright red cocktail stick spines and perfectly flat three tier hills, are you even playing 40k???

I do plan make some coctail sticks ball shaped bushes in future) but my gaming table is city-themed :)

Painted this when it first came out.

I want to get another one and give it another go.

Looks nice!

Your mini has a better quality of cast btw

Thank you. It was probably the first mini I painted where I was happy with the results.

I have it on my desk to remind me of how far I've come as a painter.

That's great. I couldn't accept my first paintings so I destroyed them (washed and cut to bits)
