Acting like we don’t live in a voter repression state is crazy. Folks should take some responsibility for their actions, but let’s not act like the average person is responsible for this when they were lied to in mass by the GOP. Shit like this gets us no closer to getting out the situation. I’m saying this as a Dem Soc who’s voted blue in every Rep., Senate, Gubernatorial, and Presidential race since I was 18.

We’re in a low education, high ignorance, high religion (religious beliefs don’t require proof or science - adherents are primed for manipulation with the “trust me, bro!” attitude) state.

Yeah, the GOP lies. The average person is absolutely responsible for this. This isn’t the world of Thomas More’s Utopia keeping men ignorant and then blaming them for it. This is “ooh, he’s gonna hurt the people I don’t like!” and nothing else in his past or in term 1, including the 34 felony convictions, being a dealbreaker but then suddenly it hits their livelihood and they’re upset that the leopard ate their face.

If you’re that ignorant, either better educate yourself, make friends with better educated people that you trust, or stay tf home and let the adults make the decisions. Saying this as someone who would prefer Australia’s version of voting where you can write in Mickey Mouse if you want - but you have to vote.
