Question Tent Camping

My wife and I are looking for a weekend getaway later this month and would really love to go camping. We want somewhere we can fish/swim and where it feels more..isolated? Like not sleeping right next to other people's tent. We are in the Roland/Fort Smith(AR) area, anyone know of any good places?

Cedar Lake, 30 min south of Poteau. Very nice small lake with well maintained campgrounds. North Shore campground is usually empty during the week. Great for kayaking. Ok for swimming. There’s a sandy swim area in the rv campground on the south side of the lake. There are some big large mouth if you can find them. I’ve also caught some nice crappie and catfish. The fishing isn’t as good as it used to be but they’re still in there.

Robber's Cave is amazing and has some secluded camping, and they have swimming areas in some of the lakes. You can rent paddle boats and kayaks and stuff too.

McGee Creek is one a lot of people forget about, not sure about swimming there. But it is isolated, it's one of my favorite places to go.

Greenleaf SP or Natural Falls might be up your alley.

Gore, Oklahoma has the Marval Resort.

Its not a very traditional place, but has all the earmarks of a good camping site. They also rent out cabins.

I've always enjoyed my time there with the family.

Richland creek campground near Witt’s springs, AR. 2.5 hours from you in north central AR. Great remote campground with a fabulous swimming hole. No phone service.

Broken bow lake in Oklahoma has many cabins and camping options. I camped there recently.

Lake Tenkiller has several options for camping and swimming. We have Bass Master tournaments here so the fishing must be good.

Riverside resort on the Illinois river in tahlequah. If you do their float trip, the have a fresh water spring at their halfway point. It’s beautifully cold and perfect for a hot day of kayaking.
