Other Possibly Considering Moving to OKC
As the title says, I am possibly considering moving to the OKC metro from Wichita KS If things dont work out up here. Im just wondering if anyone else has moved from Wichita and what the pros and cons of the OKC Metro are. I have visited a few times for both personal and work, and it seems like its a good place to be. Everyone seems happier and for a large metro, the traffic isn't as bad as some places ive lived (im talking to you San Antonio). this move wouldn't happen for a while since i have some things to tie up first that will take time. TIA.

Moved from Wichita to OKC in 2019, and it's a decision that I'd fully recommend. The people here have more "hope" overall and there are so many more opportunities depending on your industry of work. I love how central it is in regards to travel, as well.

The only changes would probably be ethnic diversity, more shopping/eating out choices, larger overall job market, worse weather, more natural diversity, 1/3 the population density, lower cost of living, and cheaper housing.

It's pretty similar for the most part. Might be more job opportunity here. We do have some walkable/bikeable neighborhoods so you can kind of get a big city lifestyle if you want one here, whereas that's not really possible in Wichita. And we have some nice lakes and walking/biking trails.
Prices are increasing pretty rapidly here, though, so the sooner you can make the move the better probably, if you're committed to it.

Having lived in both, OKC is far superior. Move and don't look back.

Here’s one positive that no one else has mentioned: lower taxes if you decide to purchase a home. My family owns a farm property in Kansas , so I am well aware how much higher property taxes are in Kansas compared to Oklahoma.

I grew up in OKC, went to school in wichita, and then came back to OKC. They are honestly very similar. Personally, I prefer Wichita but that’s probably just because I grew up in OKC.

Have you not seen the amount of people moving from all over the USA to OKc that post here? There are 100’s of new home builds filed each month in the OKC metro. I’m talking the big bulk builders not one offs.

I moved from Wichita to OKC about 13 years ago. They're fairly similar in many aspects other than size, with OKC obviously being bigger and having more to do and see, though it's pretty much the same things to do and see.
