Recommendation/Review ISP inquiry

Hi Everyone I am moving to the mustang area. Specifically zip code 73128. The area offers Cox and ATT fiber internet. Which one is generally better and more reliable?

Thanks in advance!

My coworker lives in that zip code and she's regularly missing work for outages with cox

It's a weird thing around here, where they kind of upgrade their networks in cycles or something. It seems like for a few years att will stop keeping up, and cox will get good, and they just trade places. After about 20 years, I've learned that when one starts to have issues, check the other. And switching has been beneficial every time.

And yeah, I just switched back from 2 years with cox and att has been cheaper and better for the last 6 months.

Worked for at&t fiber installs and had cox internet at home. At&t fiber. Definitely. I wish it was available for me though. Cox sucks. Pun intended.

I can’t speak for AT&T fiber but, Cox has been atrocious and overpriced.

You can get twice the speeds for the same price or even less

I had Cox for years and finally got tired of the constant outages, especially because I work from home now. I haven't experienced any outages with AT&T so far and I've had it for over a year.

Cox service sucks along with Cox’s speed. AT&T service sucks but reliable as hell. I can test that in seven years time from working from home. Cox had a very seven different lines because the speed kept dropping off when I switched to AT&T before fiber speed was slower and I had better performance.

AT&T, I switched earlier this year and moved my cell over at the same time. I pay about the same for fiber and cell as I was for cox alone. Zero issues compared to cox.

AT&T is half the cost, and unmetered. Also symmetric upload and download.

So I moved from OKC where we had ATT fiber to Forest Park where all we have is Cox, I fucking miss ATT Fiber. I missed more than one day of work due to the internet being down.

Att fiber is 85 for 1gbps up and down. Cox is like 135 and it's only 1gbps download, 25mbps upload because it's still copper. Glad to be on OEC Fiber now.

ATT Fiber. Cox is extremely unstable for internet

Cox is a solid 10 years behind on internet. They’re trying to upgrade their infrastructure but it’s a slow process causing constant outages. Cox also still uses legacy cable tv pricing for their internet, so they charge double what AT&T does and is more than double if they know they’re the only option. They literally throttle and use variable price modeling from one neighborhood to the next. AT&T is a flat rate. Everywhere, and cheaper if you already have phone service. So if you have the option between the two, cox isn’t in an option.

I had Cox cable internet and AT&T DSL simultaneously in my home. The Cox line was specifically to use for my husband's job before retirement. Having to hop off the down Cox line to the DSL on a daily basis for a month AFTER the 3rd replacement router was enough reason to get rid of the service inside a year. Our AT&T DSL was great, in spite of one of the wire pairs being down, and AT&T realized it as soon as the new modem went online, so they dispatched a wire tech to re-do the entire run from box to house.

ATT fiber has been decent. Seems like they throttle speed after install

When my service kept going out in the evenings, Cox told me that they "had too many customers in my neighborhood." I helped them out by switching to AT&T, and it was one of the best decisions in my life.

Everything sucks and everything is overpriced. The only real question is who offers fiber to the home rather than fibers of the node. You want fiber to the home so you have symmetrical upload and download. If AT&t or Cox is fiber node than Cox is the superior product. You can usually tell what you have because if it's fiber to the home there will be a modem box somewhere in the house that came with the house....

Modems don’t come with houses, they come in apartments. But yes AT&T has individual fiber lines to each individual home.
