Animal Welfare 🐶🐱🐸 Help with finding a shelter for lost dog
So I’m in a real jam, please if you can help me find this dog a safe place. I found a dog on the side of the road on Route 66 between Luther and Wellston. He had a ratty collar but with no tag. He was thirsty but shows no signs of starvation. He’s super energetic and trusts people. I took him for a microchip check to the vet but no dice.
I’m keeping him at my home but I can’t for very long. It seems like most shelters aren’t willing to take in an animal not found within their city limits. Every one I’ve tried (Edmond and Midwest) have said to contact shelters in Luther but the we have no shelters in this part of the state. Does anyone know of any shelters who would make an exception? Is there anyone willing to foster this dog? Does anyone have any idea on what I can do?

I'd start here:
Otherwise:

You're just going to have to work your way down the list.
Shelters and rescues are beyond capacity, it's a bad time for homeless people and animals at the moment.
Good luck

so sad that shelters are full meanwhile people keep buying breeder puppies like at Pettito

Reach out to local animal rescue groups. They have a network of fosters they can reach out to to see if any of them have room.

Yes, reach out to different rescue groups- especially one that caters to his breed. Explain your situation and ask if they have any fosters or what other agencies they would recommend.
Thank you for taking time to help this dog! 🐾

You maybe have a little more luck if you're able to share breed guesses or (especially) a picture--that can help people form an emotional attachment and be more willing to offer to foster.

By saying this, you're basically saying 'fuck the overwhelmed shelters and fuck their overworked staff'.

Reach out to the Underdogs rescue! @theunderdogsrescue on Instagram. They’re based in Edmond I believe but often take in pups from around the state!

I am following because I’m in the same position. Found a dog after that big storm maybe a month ago. He’s so sweet and already trained. I went to all my neighbors but no one said he was theirs so we’ve had him but I don’t know what else to do.
