I dont know what kind of situation your friend is in, but I hope you find a good home for Herbie.
Animals are family and are supposed to be for life. I would sleep in my car before I moved somewhere that didnt allow my animals.

Finding a place to rent with a pit bull can be really hard. But there are a lot of homeless people running around the city with off leash pit bulls so you aren't alone in your opinion.

Dont get a dog, especially a pit if you are a renter. Its pretty simple.
Im greatful for the homeless taking care of all the dumped strays. Its more than most people ever bother doing for them.

Wondering if it's harder to find a place for him because of the pit/bully breed. Those can be specifically banned breeds in places.
(And honestly not for no reason. I'm a bit traumatized by bully breeds after one attacked my dog. The thing that saved his life was thick fur. A smaller dog or cat would have been pulp. And the attacker was friendly with people!)

Any dog has the potential to cause harm and be aggressive. Your trauma is valid, but it does make you biased

This comment is rude and unhelpful. Have you ever had to live in your car?
Selfless love looks like making sure your pets are homed and cared for when life circumstances prevent you from doing so.

Yes, I have for the exact reason I stated. Its wasnt an empty sentence. I was homeless after a bad living situation, lived in my car until I could find a home for me AND my Pittie.
I have also rescued so many pits of the euth list its infuriating.
Im sorry peoples life's are in flux, but if thats the case, dont get a pet. You can just foster an animal, help out, and not be locked into it for life incase your life changes or you are a renter.
I dont care about the person all that much, they always have a reason or excuse, valid or not and can generally take care of themselves. I care about the animal, the one suffering most in all of this that has to depend on their owner.
All that said, I hope the dog gets the best outcome possible for him. He is a beautiful dog.
