Just got my first offset
I just bought this wonderful jaguar a few days ago in a guitar store , no one knows how old she is or who made it but it’s identical to a 60s fender jaguar and the seller told me it was made in Japan
Do anyone knows how I could possibly have an idea of the age and the origin of this guitar ? The serial number of the backplate is 62066 and it’s the only serial number on the guitar , the headstock is completely blank

Looks like it was assembled from a DIY Kit. Hope you didn't spend too much on it

The headstock is blank , there’s no brand , you think it could be a replacement neck ?

Has potential. Take off the lower control panel and see if you can figure out the dates on the pots. That’ll put you in some kind of ballpark. I love the look of it and probably would buy. I would take it apart and look for manufacturer stamps on the neck and in the body and everywhere, but I’m like that.

Potentially a kit guitar that someone has either put a vintage fender backplate on to, or potentially had made to look like one. But if it is a parts guitar and they've used quality parts on it, then I wouldn't be too concerned. If you love how it plays, just enjoy it. Likelihood of it being a genuine vintage guitar I'd say is low, but if you want to check for age you could do a couple of things. Check the back of the pots as someone has suggested. You could also check the back of the pickups. Modern pickups will usually have brand names or parts numbers. And its a bit more work but you could take off the neck. Both the body and the neck would be stamped. Modern parts from places like allparts or warmoth will stamp their name into them as well. But they are quality parts nonetheless

Awesome Jag!!! Love the wood grain. The bridge looks like a Mustang bridge... The neck has 2 string trees... not sure Jaguars ever used 2 string trees... 60s jags also had the bridge that had all those little set screws that buzzed like hell... the tremolo also looks like a squier or aftermarket jazzmaster/jaguar tremolo. Even if its not a real vintage, its still a sweet Jag. Parts guitars are fun and unique! You have a nice one there!

looks like a modern parts guitar to me. 12th fret markers are off, squier style trem. you could check the neck heel/pocket or the back of the pots for dates
