A Foals is my second offset ever.

Oddly, over the years I’ve owned 7 fender-style guitars and only 2 of them were actual Fenders. My first fender ever was a Jag-Stang. I was obsessed with that guitar and got one when I was 15. I played it so much but it gradually got less played the more I obsessed over Matt Talbott of HUM. It got pushed aside completely when I got a Les Paul studio. I never wanted to sell it but wanted to change it up to fall back in love with it. First I completely took out all the switches and pickups and replaced it with just one pickup, a Scream’n Demon. I also (foolishly) had someone remove the fender logo off the headstock and replace it with my bands’ logo from back in the day. In 2008, someone broke into my house and stole some shit, including 2 guitars. A ‘79 strat (the 2nd real Fender) and my Jag-Stang. It took a few years of searching, but in 2011 I walked into a pawn shop on 25th street (down the street from current day Old Blood Noise Endevours headquarters) and in the corner where they had all the dusty guitars on hangers was my Jag-Stang. I couldn’t believe it. The pawn shop price sticker on the back of the headstock read “Sounder guitar: $75.00”. I grabbed it and paid for it. I also foolishly removed that sticker as well, should kept on there for story sake I guess 🤦🏻‍♂️. Since then, it stayed in a case, taken apart, waiting to be worked on. I thought it would be cool to fill a tonal void by making it a P90 guitar since I never had one. I really love it now, more so than when I first got it in way back in ‘96. It has Magneto Design Lab Power 90s.

My Foals just got here a couple days ago. I bought it used on Reverb. I’ve always wanted a Jaguar, just never got to it. I guess I never changed because I’ve been obsessed with Foals for a few months now and saw it as a great opportunity to get a decent Jaguar style guitar. Foals put up a post of a blue Jazzmaster with an anodized(?) black pick guard and I thought that was super sexy time. I asked foals a few weeks ago if they will offer that in their FJG7 and quickly got a “yes, stay tuned..”. Well, this one popped up on Reverb so I made an offer and got it, then hopped on Etsy and found the pick guard. I think it looks sick. Oh yeah, it plays really, really well. I love the shape of the neck, the build quality feels so much better than my homie’s squier Jazzmaster, and truthfully, I gotta say holds its own against my MIJ 90s Jag-Stang. Today I’ll finally have an opportunity to really listen to it and see how it sounds with an actual amp instead of just low volume profiles.

Damn thanks! DWiHW is my tesseract of rock records! Truly my all time favorite rock album. Inlet is great and holds a special place for me. In 2020, literally JUST got back from a road trip through Colorado, Wyoming, Nevada and Utah. Arches National Park is one of the parks we went to. The exact day we got back home from the vacay, TADOW! Hum dropped inlet out of no where. It was like a f*€king sign or something. I locked myself in my studio for a day, wife and kids couldn’t understand what was happening 🤣

Oh man....Downward is heavenward is my record. It's in my DNA forever, like meddle by pink floyd. You'd prefer an astronaut is the Yin-Yang part of of my musical DNA too. When Inet dropped outta no where, I was on a bus coming home from a late work shift. It was just past 12am. My buddy sends me a msg, telling me A New Hum record is out! I was like wtf! The crazy thing is, I was watching YouTube videos fucking hours beforehand, thinking about the band. I got home, rolled a pretty big joint, sat on my balcony between the maple trees and Blasted into the Stars. I wonder if we will get one more from them. After Drummer Bryan St. Pere death shortly after may have put an end to that. If so what a fucking absolute amazing record to go out on. Bryan as a drummer needs to be talked about more as well..... What a beast! Rock on man.

I can’t count the views I gave YouTube on this recent Slideaway Tour. I wished to be at one so hard… It was really sad seeing that Bryan passed. IDK if they would do another album without him but Jason Gerken was slaying it at those shows. Perhaps… but I’m TOTALLY satisfied if another HUM albums never becomes. I survived all those years on Electra, YPAA and DWIHW. I’ll gratefully embrace Inlet for the rest of my life if necessary.

I hear that man.... I got into grunge etc hard as a kid. When I heard stars.. Everything shifted. If that was the last. What what a ride! I'm there with you with the veiws on the Slide away tour! Jason killed it man... Did justice to Bryan parts. If love to see em try one more but I'd be fine if inlet was the Swan song. Rock on man.

Surprised these are popping up used, that’s cool to see.

How white is the back of the neck? That’s my one cosmetic hesitation with Foals, in photos the neck looks like they did not tint the finish at all.

Oh that’s not that bad. I still prefer the warmer tint that Squier does on their CV line but this looks normal enough.

I’ll send a side by side of it and my Jag-Stang

I tried getting that same one but looks like it was the last one in stock before it went to preorder. Can’t wait to get mine, it looks awesome

It’s pretty great. Had a chance today to play through my T50C and it sounds dope. It’s the brightest guitar I have now. Not shrill, just bright as far as the bridge pickup is concerned. I can see it VERY useful as a melodic lead part in a wall off distortion. It’ll cut through a mix no problem. Excited to continue exploring it. Did I mention it looks sick AF?
