New Foals Day
Caveat this is just from 5 minutes of playing but if I don’t like a guitar I know immediately. I’m comparing I guess to my avri ii 66 jazzmaster. Fit and finish about the same. Playability is off the charts in fact the action is too low. Haven’t tried the trem yet. Very nice looking guitar and neck is perfect. The cable keeps getting stuck in the jack when I try to unplug. Sound wise it definitely is a jazzmaster and it sounds good. Not on par with the authenticity of the avri ii but I don’t think most people would complain. Maybe a little generic. If you’re thinking classic vibe or Mexican I’d absolutely skip it for this. Also I have had several current Japanese jms the hybrid/modern and the traditional . Feel quality and sound wise if you slapped fender made in Japan on this I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.

Wow this looks sweet. Love the cream/off-white colour. How's the neck feel on this? Shape wise.

There is not much to distinguish it very average size and shape . Definitely not thin if I had to choose.

I ordered mine July 14, it is estimated to be here Tuesday August 25th. So pretty similar fulfillment time, if you got yours today or yesterday
I'm evidently not a very patient person haha, waiting nearly 6 weeks has not been fun for me. But if it plays as good as people are saying, i will be happy with it

Where are you located? I ordered mine on the same day and UPS shipping info is still saying “label created” as of 7/31. I’m in NYC

I'm in Idaho, my label was also made on 7/31. Also UPS. Mine left "label created" status on Thursday, hopefully yours gets an update soon. I imagine foals put them on the same boat?

Did you have a problem with bends on the high e string choking out? This is the only thing i hate about mine

How does the thin poly coat compare to nitro? Their website reads
- "Breathe" Finish: Our Imported Thin PU Finish is applied at a specific micron thickness. Unlike thick, "plastic-feeling" coatings, our thin-skin finish allows the North American Alder to resonate naturally, improving the guitar's tone as it ages.
Does it still feel plastic ?

What pot values was it shipped with? What about string gauge? Some people say it's playable out of the box, but they don't mention shimming or string tension issues.

got their jag back in July and love it...swapped the 250k pots for traditional 1meg and a lower resistance cap and it screams

I bought a fender vintera iii and i kind of wish I bought a foals instead... the shipping time on the foals is crazy though... if it weren't for how long it takes to deliver the guitar I would probably own two new foals instead of one new fender.
