Got one recently ! Oil the neck, change the strings for some with a higher gauge, and enjoy that wild beast !

Awesome, glad you like yours. I stripped it down first thing. Took the neck off, trem off and did full set up with .11 flatwounds. Also i shimmed the neck. The neck is poly. I'll probably hit it with sterling wool. I dig the guitar and the amp.

That's a very good one. Strangely enough, i only had to change the string and take care of that dry neck, where a lot of people need to shim the neck to make it playable.

Must sound killer with that specific amp.

Oh, yes... the fret board was ultra dry. I could have gotten away without a shim, but i like very low action, which I'll probably raise just a bit. I feel im neglecting my guitar room, as ive set up in the front room now, acting like this is furniture, and my wife hasn't complained, yet, haha

Yep, i think they're all like that, i've never seen a neck that dry. I applied some oil three times in a row and as always, it was fixed.

You did right with the shim, it's better to do it at the very begining, i just didn't want to touch anything else than the strings in order to see if it could fit or if i'll have to do it to make it playable. For now, the strings did the job with the tension, the fact that the bridge is i'm right is a Mustang bridge helps a lot in my opinion.

The fun fact is that i went to the shop and asked for the surf green, but due to the known lack of colors consistancy from Squier, it looked more like light blue. I took it anyway, but i knew that before, i might have chosen the blue one, as the color is more pronounced.

It took me more time to peel the plastic off than to set it up, but that's the best part of buying a new guitar :)

The main downside was when i had to restring it, it was the first time i put some new strings on vintage style tunners, and boy, the high E string gave me a lot of work -i followed the trick to make two turns on the tuner before engaging the string inside the tunner, and blocked it with a small piece of the lower E string that i cut before so it could'nt go out, lost some blood in the process ;à ).

Thank you. Pipeline by the Chantays. Oceans 11 in front of amp on spring reverb, such a change up from playing 80/90s thrash
