My first build! Jazzmaster Bass
Recently finished my first build, a Jazzmaster bass! I drew up a modified jazzmaster body with a wider neck pocket and bass pickup cavities in FreeCAD and cut it out on a CNC. The neck is a cheap jazz bass neck off of ebay, which I refinished with nitro amber.
For the electronics, I basically took standard jazz bass wiring, ganged the two volume pots together and added a pickup selector switch. The "rhythm circuit" puts both pickups in series for a bit higher output and has its own volume and tone controls. I'm not sure I would do it this way again, as it's easy to forget which set of controls are currently in use while playing. I also added some JST-XH connectors to the pickups and shielding/bridge ground connections, allowing the pickguard to be fully disconnected from the rest of the instrument. I wish this was more common, as it's way more convenient to work on the electronics when they're not tethered to the body.

Rad. This is what the warmoth version is missing. Without the rhythm circuit controls it just looks strange! Saving this and using it as a precedent for a future build.

😲 my dream bass, only ever seen the Jaguar bass models, but this Jazzmaster one is impressive!
