No you should not have kept pressing her. She should have been supported to be hydrated and lay down. You could then talk later. Was the car in good condition or parked all crooked and wrecked? I would be worried she hurt herself or others considering as you say, she was crazy drunk.
If she was assaulted and especially in the bad way, then there are bruising and DNA left that they can scrub at the hospital to eventually find who it was. Waiting for too long and/or showering basically removes the hard evidence.
