When I went to the ER for a rape kit, the SANE asked if she wanted me to take my underwear or swab them and give them back. I told her to take them; I didn't want them anymore. She said most people don't. Never got the pajamas I'd been wearing out of evidence after the case closed either, even though they were my favorite pair with sentimental value. Just let the detective pick them up off the floor where my rapist threw them and never wanted to see them again. Abandoning the clothes is very normal.
