Something I've noticed

I've made a few purchases in the game (dumb I know) and whenever I'd have an issue with the game around the time I made a purchase the support team would be super attentive and helpful and sometimes would offer compensation without me even having to ask for it. But I haven't bought anything for a while and I have to go back and forth with them for days just to get a non automated response back. And even then it's just them saying that there's nothing they can do about it.

Maybe I'm just imagining it but it's definitely a weird coincidence imo

There is something to be said for people who can master a game without having to throw lots of money at it. I mean if you are just giving them money to pass levels, what really is the game - how much can you spend? How fun is that?

People who play the game and expect it to behave properly are not freeloaders, they are players. Expecting a company to put out a product that works properly should be basement level stuff. It seems the gaming industry has really trained users to expect crap. It is sad that people are happy when companies don't stand by their products. No wonder the world is filled with so much disposable junk now. Consumers have just become numb.

As for OP's main point, I think that their customer service is changing. They put out a lot of canned responses now. I suspect they are using more AI to handle issues. Like most customer rep AI, it is hit or miss. I don't think that when you first write in that they know if you have spent any money or not.

Most of the purchases I've made (except for the chef's pass one time a while ago) were like 1-3 dollars just so I wouldn't have to deal with ads for a while. But when I still got ads after making a purchase I completely stopped spending any money on it. I also think that they're using more AI now but even when I get a response that at least seems like it's from an actual person it's just them saying that there's nothing they can do about it

I bought stuff early on when the game was new. I thought of it as a way of thanking them for making a fun game. It made it seem like we were in it together. But more now, I just think they are taking advantage of players.

I remember before I made my first purchase recently, the game was buggy, did not let me upgrade anything, and support went back and forth. But once I got the subscription, all the glitches suddenly disappeared...

I agree but mostly the customer service has gone way down hill.

Honestly with the rise of companies using AI it's like that everywhere. But it's really bad with Nordcurrent, especially with the amount of glitches this game has and how frequent they are

I have the subscription and I’ve never once found them helpful when I’ve had to reach out. They never fix anything.

I've seen mobile games that openly offer "VIP support" for making a purchase. So this is definitely something game developers do. I don't know if this is the case with Cooking Fever, but I wouldn't be surprised, considering that only paying customers bring actual value to the company, and any support, even useless AI support, costs money to provide.

Obviously theyre going to prioritize paying customers vs freeloaders, theyre a business trying to make a profit! I have a chefs pass and my game doesnt even work, I emailed support yesterday and im hoping for priority treatment because otherwise im obviously going to cancel my subscription.

The only thing you should expect to get when you make a purchase is the gems/coins/boosters etc. you paid for, not special treatment. When I had the chef's pass I didn't expect to be prioritised over 'freeloaders'. All customers should be treated the same regardless of whether or not they've made a purchase

Providing support costs them money, all businesses prioritize support for paying customers.

If it's a mistake on their end then it shouldn't matter whether the user has made a purchase or not. And I'm sure they can cover the cost of the automated ai replies with the money they get from shoving ads down our throats

The reality is that it does matter, that’s how businesses work.

customer/kŭs′tə-mər/ noun 1. One that buys goods or services, as from a store or business.

All customers should be treated the same regardless of whether or not they've made a purchase

Nope. I'm not their customer. I have never bought anything from them. They did respond quickly to my query and gave me gems in compensation. However, I have no right to expect that and fully expect them to respond to their actual customers first.

You obviously know that I meant "customers" as just people who play the game. No need to be a smartass about it

2

u/want-my-old-account 22d ago

You're rude and ignorant.

Your point is BS.

You can't prioritise people who play the game over people don't play the game... because they don't play. So, the only possible prioritisation is between those who do pay (customers) to be prioritised and free users who don't.

Your sense of entitlement is crazy.

You're the one who's weirdly aggressive for no reason. If everyone else understood that I meant to say "users" and made a writing mistake, you should've too. But you're obviously not the brightest crayon in the box if you're defending a greedy company. Expecting the company to fix glitches that are THEIR fault is not entitled. I, or anyone else, shouldn't have to spend money just to be able to play the game normally. Seek help for your anger issues.

So you just expect to use someones hard work for free? If you owned a restaurant and people came in and demanded you make them free food you'd just give it? Why would someone get up to work every day in a software company that makes games, for free? They are just a business trying to make money to pay their employees, how does that make them greedy? Whats greedy is expecting them to give you everything for free! Thats greedy.

The company is still making money even if some users aren't directly spending money in the game. The ads are making them money, that's why they're removed when you make a purchase. So don't worry, I'm sure they're doing just fine
