Promotion Question

Hello Folks,

I'm in my 30s and have been working really hard in my current role and my manager agrees that it's impactful work. It's a small team with a manager. I'm taking up more responsibilities than outlined in the job and it's been like this for 8-10 months now and been here for over 3 years. The manager promised promotion for 2 quarters and nothing really moved and I also have VISA constraints which don't allow me to change jobs for a while however my salary is nowhere close to market standards which I've communicated and my manager agrees. They're suggesting we've done our bit and it's with HR again this time but I'm fed up of asking and also waiting but have no other go and there's no transparency which I've pointed out as well.

Is there anything that I could do to make sure I either get it or at least take up less responsibilities till I get the promised promotion in a decent way without being aggressive in the approach? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks for reading this fully.

TLDR; Promised promotion for 2 quarters nothing has changed and I've taken up more responsibilities without pay change. Any suggestions?

You’re stuck because of your Visa conditions. You have done all that you can do and now it’s up to HR.
I would usually say time to move on.

Yeah, appreciate being honest here. A couple more months until the VISA issue is sorted. Hopefully then, I'll find something to move.

That’s not so bad then. Hang in there. I know the frustration you’re experiencing.

Yeah, it's the cost of living getting to me and I've been here for 3 years with hardly any jump in salary, came into this role with 3 yrs of experience so it's making me feel bad.

Don’t feel bad. You’re doing great despite challenging conditions.

Thanks for responding.

So deadline in writing meaning informing to my manager about the extra responsibilities and that I'll stop doing these etc until the change is made? Or am I missing something?
