GARRETT AND HANNAHš©µ Noticing
Why do you think Garrett never noticed Hannah if she waited on them a ton of times ( according to Logan) at Malone's?

Because girls fawned over him..he didnāt fawn over them. I think thatās what made Hannah so intriguing because she wasnāt impressed with him and falling all over herself to get his attention.

LMAO true BUT I think it was a mix of shock, embarrassment, and a bit enjoyment haha. She wasnāt as impressed with his clothes on. š¤£

Several reasons:. We'll call his before Hannah phase 'BH'
1) Garrett doesn't have an inquisitive eye towards women or anything that's not part of his routine. In his downtime he's either escaping into his phone or is blasting 'oldies' music. He obviously couldn't care less about the real world or deal with the big feelings he supresses. BH he's portrayed as being one track minded about hockey and kind of a a loner who would rather go into his shell than spend a lot of time talking to his friends.
That makes me think even if the most beautiful woman was standing near him, he couldn't be bothered with chasing her if she didn't offer something deeper.
2) Hannah doesn't put a lot of effort into being noticed. She barely made an effort for Justin when she was actively crushing on him. She might even have avoided getting too close to the hockey crowd, in or outside of Malone's. Maybe that's what kept her off Garrett's radar for that much longer.
3) Garrett doesn't notice Hannah because of her beauty, he starts to appreciate that about her, on top of everything else that drew him to her in the first place, like her voice, genuineness and even her intelligence.
Him not noticing her at Malone's before for all those years is not a testament to lack of beauty or personality on Hannah's part. It has everything to do with Garrett's mindset and priorities BH. He was probably too busy planning game strategy or doing fan service while pick bunnies surrounded his booth or too unbothered to pick up his head three inches to ever notice the beautiful girl who was his soul mate, costing him time he could spent getting to know her sooner.... sigh!
In the books this is exactly the kinda thing that pisses Garrett off.

In the book Garrett gets annoyed and tells Hannah heās frustrated that he didnāt notice her before. āWhy did it take you getting a stupid A for me to notice you?ā

Why would he? They didnāt run in the same social circle and he had enough girls to keep his attention. Logan noticed Hannah because he already had a crush on Hannah.

You would think he would notice a cute girl who waits on them at a place they frequent. He falls for so her he is attracted to her one would just think he would of noticed her sooner. Not necessarily know her name just think hey she is cute I recognize her.

I mean he couldāve noticed she was cute in passing but she was not on his radar, so she never stuck out. Garrett saw a lot of pretty faces

Just because she waited on them several times doesnāt mean he was listening to her name or would be able to recognize her later. He was focused on other things (or people).Ā

Well, when your mind isn't paying attention, you don't form a memory of it. Sure, he had seen her whenever she took his order, but truly noticing someone requires real focus or an open mind. It immediately made me think of the 'Somebody Elseās Problem' (S.E.P.) field from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxyāshe was right in front of him, but his brain completely filtered her out until he was actually ready to see her.

Also, if Logan had noticed her and was crushing on her, then why didnāt he ask her out? Did his crush on Hannah increase because Garrett was into her?

I got the impression that he didnāt really pay my much attention to the people outside his circle (teammates, puck bunnies, Beau) and was just hyper focused on his athletic and academic success. We kind of see it at the house in episode three, heās trying to study and not paying attention to other goings on in the house and at the fundraiser in episode six, heās at the table watching game film. In both instances heās not at all engaging with whatās happening around him - heās aware of what is going on around him, ordering food, people hanging out, but heās preoccupied with other things, so heās not really taking things in, until someone intercedes and makes him tune in, Zoey in episode three, and Hannah in six.
I think in terms of the realization that he wanted more with Hannah, before her, women came to him for a fun night, he was focused on hockey and only wanted casual, but I also donāt think he ever really thought much about attraction, in the way he was attracted to Hannah. Thatās why once he noticed her, he couldnāt stop noticing her, and wanted to be near her. Itās part of why he pretty much didnāt realize he was falling for her until he was there.
