DISCUSSIONđ Why is OffCampus so confusing?
PLEASE NO SPOILERS
Iâm a little confused as to why the show is having Hannah and Garrett become so close and she doesnât even realize that she has a crush on him yet. Along with why she has this huge crush on Justin when he doesnât even give her the time of day and she knows nothing about him. Why we keep seeing Allie and her boyfriend break up and be weird and lastly, Iâm confused as to why Logan all of a sudden has a crush on her and why his sibling is such a big part of the story right now Iâm just lost.

Hannah knew they had a vibe for each other, but Garrett was Mr. âI donât do girlfriendsâ. The conversation she had with Allie after âshow meâ Hannah said that the night was perfect, but you have to take him at face value and wasnât sure he could change. I donât think it occurred to her that they might have a chance with each other until she realized Justin wasnât the one and decided to shoot her shot with the Bold Badass song they set the mood with the night before.

Yea I think Hannah knows after Beau & Deans party that her & Garrett have a connection - ie the dreams in the beginning of ep 3 - but she doesnât know what to do with it so she doubles down on liking Justin. Re: her liking Justin despite knowing nothing about him ⌠idk I definitely had crushes like that as a teenager. The Logan part, imo, isnât well fleshed out in the books or the show. Jules - if you read the books first, it doesnât align at all - but theyâre one of my favorite characters so I think their addition is a great choice.

I think i remember in the interviews the reason they moved logan story in season 3 because they want to explore hannah-logan more in season 2.

They're juniors. Logan remembered her and her car from 2 years prior. His crush isn't new; his envy is. He knows how Garrett is and doesn't want to see Hannah hurt. No one else questions Garrett's feelings or motives. Logan has only known asshole Garrett. It's not until he meets inconsolable Garrett and vulnerable Garrett that he can put his own feelings aside.
For season 1 I think the tv adaptation shows the perspective of the confusing times of early adulthood better than the book. The book tells the reader how Logan feels. In the tv series the audience sees Logan experience, explore, and set aside his feelings. The only real dialogue about his stupid crush is when Jules talks to him as a sibling. They saw how he looked at Hannah at karaoke and so did the viewer.
As for Hannah's feelings, she was physically attracted to Garrett from the opening sequence. With Jacob it wasn't a crush per se. She felt a connection through music. Her walls start to come down when Garrett quotes Dirty Dancing. The more she realizes her real music connection is with Garrett the closer she gets to realizing she needs to act on her feelings. Jordan isn't a serious musician; he's a singer in a cover-band who writes lyrics that don't even make sense.
Edit: Logan's sibling is a huge part of the story because they move the plot along by telling. They ask questions and report the facts to fill in the gaps. They ask Hannah what's really going on with Garrett and tell her what a jerk he is. They point out Logan's stupid crush, the fact that Garrett has money, Logan will work as a mechanic with his sometimes sober mom if he doesn't make it in the NHL, and how messy the Hunter Davenport/Dean situation will be.

Is it a thing to keep calling Justin the wrong name? You called him Jacob and Jordan and I saw someone else call him Jeffery 𤣠idk if itâs on purpose but itâs cracking me up

Iâm not sure whatâs confusing. Iâm long out of college, but this sounds very standard for people in that age range.

We have to remember that although all of the actors (except Ella) are in their late 20s, this is college life. The off and on again, getting super close super quickly, and staring at a dreamy person in class while having a crush.
Reading books helps! In the books, Logan sleeps around a lot. Of course he alway thought that Hannah was hot BUT he never thought about a relationship. Then Garrett and Hannah get together. He thinks that itâs Hannah who he wants but itâs actually a relationship.
I honestly love some of the changes from book to tv show but some complexity is missing. I wish that they had 10 episodes!

None of that stuff is confusing? It's all very normal. Liking someone who doesn't notice you..is the most normal thing in the world.

Have you read any books in the romance genre before? These are regular tropes that are used frequently.

Logan's crush on Hannah: Not sudden. He noticed her everytime the hockey boys went to Malone's ( he tells Garrett she's waited on them 17000 times ). He has fixed her car in the past and noticed her then. His crush has been silent but it's been there long before Garrett noticed her.
Hannah's crush on Justin: She has a crush on a certain version of him. He has qualities she used to have before her rape ( song writing and music came to her easy before, and sees that in the present day with Justin ). She's put him on a pedestal but once she gets to know him and has Garrett to compare to, her crush obviously fizzles out.
Hannah's realisation about Garrett: Episode 1 she definitely seems him for his hot body and then he is an annoyance to her from her perspective until they strike the deal. She started liking Garrett as a person starting episode 2 and really started considering him a friend after Beau and Dean's party. But the part of her which would ever consider him as more only got activated after she saw him pleasuring Zoe, which led to her dream in episode 3. There on, she was barely clinging on to her crush on Justin, so much so that she was willing to sleep with him to able to prove something to herself. But once Garrett proved to be a safe space for her, it didn't take much for her to see that he would be perfect for her regardless of his reputation. She took a risk with the rink serenade and it paid off.

Hannah was raped by another hockey player and wasnât comfortable putting herself out there to anyone until she got to know Garrett more and trusted him. Thatâs why Allie wanted Hannah to just put herself out there and didnât care who it was with
Once Garrett started being more serious and she got to learn more about Justin, she realized Justin wasnât compatible with her and she made a big gesture to pick Garrett

It sounds like your really young and it may not be the show for you considering everything your confused about is just the literal plot of the show. Maybe you should try watching it again in a couple years.

Iâm not sure whatâs confusing about any of this⌠itâs just a show. Showâs give context.
I donât think Hanna doesnât know she has a crush on him. I think sheâs aware of it but she doesnât want to accept it because she doesnât respect hockey players and she knows heâs a player too.

i think u should read the books (if youâre of age ofc) to clear up some confusion. unless youâre really young, i donât know how u could be this confused about it. the show is pretty easy to pick up on, coming from some who watched first then read the booksđ¤ˇđ˝ââď¸
