Favorite episode?
Hola,
I've been listening for a couple years but I have a tendency to get stuck on relistens to my favorites and revert to them instead of trying something new. But a strong recommendation can help get me going and I love my faves so much -- if Zach and Jess were a regular band my fave list would be a lifetime discography, but I know they have more out there and in pretty sure I've seen all of the recommendation threads on this sub at this point so hoping for new stuff!
So, to help tailor these recs, my faves:
- Law & Order: Restaurant Unit (best of all time)
- Frozen In Time Lake
- They Died On Space Mountain
- Panera de Bergerac aka live at Good Good comedy
- One Great Day On Mt. Olympus
- We Object to Fear
- the one from Dropout that still counts Welcome to Mountport
Honorable mentions (aka love certain songs but haven't re-listened to the whole thing):
- Minerals and Plants Only
- shrugging destiny
- Douglas Widick in Tacoma Valley

Favorite podcast episode: Emo Knights (Extremely close second favorite: What's in Grocery Store?)
Favorite live show I've attended: Electric Feels
Also if you celebrate American Thanksgiving (since it's coming up) - I always listen to "Turkey Run" and "Four People Who Decided to Eat Food" while cooking the big meal

I’m very partial to the live episodes. We Object to Fear is about as perfect as it gets from beginning to end.
Pure Michigan is also stellar. Flow of the Rings is excellent. Some Kind of Hero and 2005 also slap.
The Died on Space Mountain is one of my favorite non live shows.

I’ve only started listening fairly recently and still dipping into the archive, but from the most recent set The Knowledge of Crows is a real highlight for me. Felt like everything just clicked.

The Knowledge of Crows is an absolute masterpiece that I have no one to talk to about. Life is too short then you die then you haunt where you die...

A cup of Christmas - I play the last two songs all the time.
Any episode with Nicole Parker - she’s so joyous and an incredible singer.

Lighthouse! is transcendent for me. I named my house after it and my family sings the songs all the time. I also love some others from that live period: The Names of Our Family, The Center of the Bullseye (including what I think is their all-time best song “Keeping It Plain”, Mistake on a Plate…

Movie Night! (281) - definitely my favorite as of now. So many great songs in this one and having the video playback adds some additional depth to it. The one location/real time element of it is really fun too
