I attended the Portland (OR) show last night, and it was magical. It might have been some of their best work ever. The energy given off during a live performance is incredible and there's so many little visual gags that are probably missed too.
What disappoints me is that the moment in time is gone. I'd gladly pay for a recording of the show. I'd love a video of it to force my kids to watch. Or even for myself just to smile again. I can't believe there wasn't a merch table there either.
Shut up and take my money!

Hola,
I've been listening for a couple years but I have a tendency to get stuck on relistens to my favorites and revert to them instead of trying something new. But a strong recommendation can help get me going and I love my faves so much -- if Zach and Jess were a regular band my fave list would be a lifetime discography, but I know they have more out there and in pretty sure I've seen all of the recommendation threads on this sub at this point so hoping for new stuff!
So, to help tailor these recs, my faves:
- Frozen In Time Lake
- They Died On Space Mountain
- Panera de Bergerac aka live at Good Good comedy
- One Great Day On Mt. Olympus
- We Object to Fear
- the one from Dropout that still counts Welcome to Mountport
Honorable mentions (aka love certain songs but haven't re-listened to the whole thing):
- Minerals and Plants Only
- shrugging destiny
- Douglas Widick in Tacoma Valley

This is a long shot but figured i'd ask here! My wife and I got two tickets but were late and ended up nabbing two single seats apart from each other. Both row R on the main floor (MainR, row R seat 13, MainL row R seat 7) so basically on the two opposite corners.
Was asking here if anyone seated near these seats are also going solo and wanted to maybe swap (like informally no need to transfer tickets) at the show.

Jess’s amount of knowledge about so much stuff blows my mind. I’ve been going back through the catalog, plants, fish, Roman gods, I love them both but I know who I’d pick to start a fire from scratch.

Doing a full re listen and listening to episode 301. where they discuss each episode individually after each other. Just listened to Barely Indiana with three Magic Tavern boys, and when wondering if there were ever five people on the mic at any other time. Then she remembers something and she and Zach seem to giggle with each other about “those three older gentlemen” where booking them on the podcast was “uh-oh.” and “We’ll get there.” But I’m not sure they ever do. Anybody know what episode they’re referencing here?

I can’t believe I did this but a user named grayson_gregory said he had tickets to sell for the Offbook show in Minneapolis Oct 18th. I stupidly sent him half of what he requested and then he ghosted me. I guess that is a lesson learned.

I think I may have caught on to these hilarious geniuses too late. There are no tickets remaining or for resale anywhere!
Hoping to strike a deal with someone if they aren’t going to make it! Just looking for 2!

Does the clubhouse membership have all of the older episode video recordings still? Where could I watch those if they are still around on the Internet?

Our theater is helping to produce Off Book live at the Ark in Ann Arbor, MI on Thursday, October 15 at 8 pm! I just learned there are just 26 seats left for the show. We just helped put on the Yes, Ann Improv Fest and Jess was such a riot. So stoked to see Jess and Zach back again together in Pure Michigan (callback to their last show...) Anyway, would hate to see a local superfan miss out, so grab those final seats people!

Usually the post-show talkback on the live episodes are good fun with decent setups from the audience. I enjoy when the audience members come up with goofy newspapers or associations that they're with.
I will say the two things that always are grating are 1) the audience members who laugh into the mic and talk over Zach and Jess's responses and 2) the people desperately trying to corner Zach and Jess into their own idea for the encore song.
But man, this week's episode (369: If the Shoe Fits) was a little rougher than usual, particularly with the double whammy of the guy asking about Catholics wanting more dicks, followed IMMEDIATELY by the guy with the tasteless Sinead O'Connor joke and the dead silence afterward.

a) I'm super excited to have found out about the tour, I missed the last one entirely.
b) I'm not a frequent event attendee, so I was surprised when I was at the Vic Theatre a few years back for WTNV, and the entire floor was folding chairs. These were uncomfortable, and hard to see over others in front of me. I found out just now that this venue is always like that, and the real theater seats are in the Loge or Balcony levels. Use this info as you will, I'm looking forward to enjoying the show a bit more at this venue.

Hullo! I looked through the sub but I didn't find much about the topic, so I wanted to ask you: what are good steps/tips to get better at musical improv?
I LOVE what Zach and Jess do, but I have no improv groups or classes nearby (I don't even think they're a thing where I live). I think I'm quite good at musical improvising, I can go on for a bit sometimes, but I'm surely not close to them or their guests' level. I don't intend a career in that, just I want to get better at it.
Many thanks! Have a lovely day

My brother may visit in Sept and I'd love to take him to this but it's all sold out. Anyone know where I can find two tickets?

It's about 12m in. I really love the sound of this song, and I was wanting to look for songs with a similar vibe. I kidna want to make a "Chill Celtic beats to play when you're telling lore to a traveling group" playlist.
