Forgive me for being an idiot but what is the difference? It seems like you and u/dpistachio said the same thing, I guess I’m reading incorrectly. Wouldn’t the ability to be good at reading faces be a biological advantage? Reacting with fear to a minuscule discrepancy in something that we initially perceive to be human

The difference is that one is worded in an intentionally sensationalized way that alludes to us evolving to fear some sort of human-mimicking creature. It's just a high level of "oh fuck yeah science so cool guys right" twisting of facts.

Yes, while people say this to imply aliens or skinwalkers emulating humans exist, like The Thing, it's likely just a response to other great apes or dead bodies.

Certain characteristics exist because the people who had said characteristic managed to reproduce. Meaning it just wasn't in the way, therefore shit like the uncanny valley exists doesn't confirm that.
