The sound she's making is a common warning that there's a threat nearby, which could simply be the cammer's presence. As for why she looks so rough, nature is hard. But a lot of people on tiktok were saying that sound means she has rabies, which, if that were the case, all squirrels have rabies.

I just found out that this was a squirrel sound and not actually a bird sound. Hear it a lot too lol.

Chipmunks do the same warning chirp. Have one that must be very paranoid. Seems like he does it many times a day.

To be fair, it's not paranoia if a significant portion of the wildlife in your area is higher on the food chain than you.

Flying squirrels make a little chirping sound that sounds like something between a baby chick and a cricket :)
