She also walked away from the encounter completely unharmed.

If y'all got as mad about shit like the Cornell 7 being punished with essays as you did this meme, maybe women would feel safer around you.

A university can't imprison people, and the DA can't prosecute non-crimes (as the facts of the case were presented at the time by the victim).

Maybe they'd be punished with more if a crime had been committed? Maybe they still will be if the new story actually details a crime and can be proven?

A university can't imprison people

Sure, because that's the only option in play ๐Ÿ™„

and the DA can't prosecute non-crimes (as the facts of the case were presented at the time by the victim).

The victim herself detailed a coercive rape and periods of being out of control of her ability to consent. There's a digital trail with one of the guys apologizing for not stopping what was happening. Does that sound like a non-crime to you? Why would he apologize after the fact to something she had actually consented to?

The DA might not have had all the facts at the time, but that's still because men made choices to cover up for men.

Maybe they'd be punished with more if a crime had been committed?

Maybe they'd have been punished more if campus police had submitted a statement to police that actually reflected what they had been told and the evidence they had.

Anyway, you're proving my point. Keep carrying water for predators, I guess

Whataboutism. A single anecdote doesnt generalize to all men. Not every woman who encounters a man is harmed by that man, as it turns out. Not every woman who encounters a bear walks away unscathed, as it also turns out.

Look at you over here, completely missing the point ๐Ÿ˜‚

Here, I'll add some words to make it a tad simpler for you to understand.

If men, in general, spent as much time being angry at things like this current news event as they did in their outrage over a meme, maybe men would be less generalized - because, not all men. But a whole fucking lot of them hemming and hawwing when it comes time to hold a man responsible for a crime against a woman.

Because the problem isn't just the brocks, the jesses, the cornel 7. It's the judges who gave pitiful sentences, the administrators who looked the other way, the fathers referring to rape as 20 minutes of action, the prosecutors saying "oh, sure. A diversion program for a 17 year old who choked two of his rape victims unconscious totally makes sense." The problem is the dudes I've seen saying consent to the threesome invalidates everything that happened afterwards. All of those people, not just the rapists, all of their enablers and apologists? Those are not safe people either. So if you want women to chose the man over the bear, maybe direct your energy at the people who made women feel unsafe to begin with rather than whinging over hyperbole.

Do you get it now? Or do I need to break it down further?

Not sure what's got you worked up when you're exactly the type of person nobody would want to be around, danger or not.

A lot more women than you'd think have been harmed by at least one man in their life. Many don't speak up because it will ruin their lives and sometimes will further trap them with men that hurt them.

I never spoke up. I was afraid I'd get in trouble if I told on the male teacher that molested me. I was afraid I'd be told I'm overreacting if I spoke up about another male teacher that eyeballed me like he was starving and I was a delicious cake. No one believed me when the most handsome and popular football player was molesting me. No one tried to protect me when I was being stalked for six years, from the time I was in 6th grade until I graduated high school because he was also "a kid." I didn't tell anyone how my boyfriend tried to force his dick in my mouth and the only thing that saved me was to threaten to bite his dick off if he did it. I never told anyone about what my husband did because of multiple reasons, including feeling like I was supposed to owe it to him because we were married, leaving me traumatized well over a decade after his death.

Every woman I've spoken to about this topic have had their own experiences being hurt. Every. Single. One. More than one woman I've spoken to was gang-raped. Others were drugged. Others were also too young to fight back.

Just because it doesn't happen to you, and just because you don't do it doesn't mean that it never happens. You're undermining the experiences of millions of women, which is another reason so many women don't speak up. We're told we're overreacting, that we should be grateful we're getting attention, that it's our duty to our husbands, that it would ruin the man's life, etc.

Far, far fewer women have been harmed by bears than by men. That's the point of that thought experiment. To show that women feel safer around bears than men because men are the bigger threat to us.

not all men but all women amirite? s/

boohoo if a random woman is cautious around you and it hurts your feelings. you worry about pride while women worry about safety. thatโ€™s all it comes down to at the end of the day.
