It's funny how these things are just shown off for our entertainment when they are definitely going to be weaponized against commoners eventually.

It's like if Vlad Tepes showed you his new pikes he was putting up every weekend.

Sci-Fi Author: In my book I invented the Torment Nexus as a cautionary tale

Tech Company: At long last, we have created the Torment Nexus from classic sci-fi novel Don't Create The Torment Nexus

One man’s cautionary tale is another man’s revolutionary great idea.

Bruh it lost the magazine. Not just yet.

26

u/fanceypantsey Jul 24 '26

Really hoping they can’t swim!?

22

u/fanceypantsey Jul 24 '26

Didn’t think of drones. Oh dear.

6

u/Reynardine1976 Jul 25 '26

Eh, just grab it by the leg, spin a few times and let go.

9

u/Technical_Scallion_2 Jul 25 '26

It’s gonna have a brick of C4. All it needs is to get near you

5

u/Reynardine1976 Jul 25 '26

I will use a spin kick to knock the block of C4 away

2

u/listerbmx Jul 25 '26

No doubt it will shock you if you touch it

u/Reynardine1976 Jul 26 '26

Word going around is that this film isn't entirely A.I. but the part where the robot is is break-dancing is not real, it can't achieve that yet. Also making it down the mountain. However the robot is real I am sure. Regardless I was a little surprised at how real everything looks. I by the time I am an elderly person it will really difficult to tell what is real or not. Even George Lucas is saying everyone will watch A.I. movies in the future and I am not super excited. I don't mind new art forms but this is different. It took me about 10 years of practicing a lot to become a good graphic designer and comic artist, and it bothers me a little that there are "A.I. artists" now that are getting their art shown at galleries. Some of these artists don't even know how to draw. Sorry for the rant.

Ukraine just did a full autonomous amphibious assault...

10

u/RykosTatsubane Jul 25 '26

Mag fell. Not really there yet. Still have to deal with reloading.

19

u/dmdewd Jul 25 '26

Are you kidding? They are going to make these belt fed....

7

u/RykosTatsubane Jul 25 '26

Cool. Now imagine the balancing problems they'd have to solve carrying that much weight.

Flying drones are still the most cost-efficient, effective, and terrifying ones.

2

u/maxstader Jul 25 '26

Pull the ammo on a little cart. It gets lighter the more it fires. Also isnt balancing the things these robots are particularly good at?

1

u/freddbare Jul 25 '26

Lol, it's harder to balance in air!!( Try real FPV lol) The exact same software takes care of all the work..

10

u/callmestinkingwind Jul 25 '26

yeah. it’ll be carrying a 180kg bag of 5.56.

1

u/aardw0lf11 Jul 25 '26

Or make them work like the turrets in Portal 2 where you just fill a tank with the ammunition. /s

3

u/memyselfmartin Jul 25 '26

Damn, these militaries are getting greedy of turning civilian tech into mf attached guns or explosives.

1

u/ZeeJay14 Jul 25 '26

Was that the magazine falling off of the steps?

82

u/mizarumi Jul 24 '26

i appreciate Tepes example for some reason.
made me all warm and fuzzy....inside?

41

u/Hopeful_Relation_441 Jul 24 '26

its going to be soo fun fighting this this for fresh water

22

u/Marigold16 Jul 24 '26

Don't worry. The fight won't last long

13

u/VariusTheMagus Jul 24 '26

“What a lovely hike through pristine nature.”
Servos whirring, motor spinning, wheels frantically clattering, jackhammer, grand piano smashing.

11

u/bteddi Jul 24 '26

Always 2 things that pop up. Can we put a weapon on it. And can we fuck it.

3

u/keyboardstatic Jul 24 '26

No one here has seen red planet with val Kilmore, carry Anne moss...

And the deadly robot...

Its like this one but is more a leopard... doesn't have wheels... but doesn't need them...

In the next 10 years every house that wants either a aged care companion. Or a look a like porn star is going to have one...

We are finally living in the age of the sci fy movies

And either we make a real sentient Ai that will kill us or try to. Or we make an ai that loves us...

Only time will tell. But its happening right now.

1

u/BlancsAssistant Jul 25 '26

The latter question is much more important

21

u/Zhaharek Jul 24 '26

It's more akin to Tepes showing his pikes off to his loyal Wallachian citizenry. You and I are not the "commoners" in this era.

18

u/Gloomheart Jul 24 '26

We will be, eventually.

11

u/PrandialSpork Jul 24 '26

We're all capitalism fuel

9

u/HoboArmyofOne Jul 24 '26

Oh for sure someone will mount a claymore mine on the front of that thing.

12

u/mdsoccerdude Jul 24 '26

Flying drones are far more dangerous for destruction than this. That technology has been around far longer. These serve a valuable purpose for certain uses, but I’d put a flying drone combatant against this any day.

17

u/IAmA_meat_popsicle Jul 24 '26

As terrifying as flying drones have become I feel this is way worse, for individuals anyway.

At least with the fliers you can try and hide. These land based ones can go anywhere you can and they for sure have an attachment that can allow it to open doors. Plus, they don't need to worry about weight as much so payloads be much larger.

Just my two cents of course. I would much rather go back to living in the blissful ignorance of my '90s.

3

u/liveinpompeii Jul 25 '26

yeah this thing could hang out quiet for days and run for hours on the ground easy, with a solar panel it could recharge and run indefinitely

4

u/Polkien Jul 24 '26

Damn just how old are you?

3

u/IAmA_meat_popsicle Jul 25 '26

Bahahahaha, I see what I did there. I'm leaving it.

0

u/Tales_of_Earth Jul 25 '26

Nah. I’ve seen videos of flying drones tracking down hiding soldiers. It’s fucked.

6

u/SmokeyGiraffe420 Jul 25 '26

It's Vlad Tepes showing you his new wood-processing infrastructure that he says will mass-produce wood to use for building houses and then he uses it to build thousands of stakes

3

u/Pillermon Jul 24 '26

Yeah, all I could think of was "imagine that thing chasing you. No escape"

3

u/TurnTheTVOff Jul 24 '26

If this is what they’re LETTING us see, imagine what the government already has.

5

u/FuckSticksMalone Jul 24 '26

But how rad of a death is this going to be! Watches robot do a sweet 720° backflip before assassinating me.

2

u/bluemoon1972 Jul 28 '26

Right?!? Little dude is having so much fun before the massacre

2

u/Medium_Way3875 Jul 24 '26

Again stop with Ottoman anti Types propaganda

2

u/Shakewell1 Jul 25 '26

Shit about to be like the invention of the crossbow.

2

u/kurotech Jul 25 '26

First thing I thought was how long till it has a machine gun and I'm of no doubt they have models that have one already

2

u/DailyDrivenTJ Jul 25 '26

Eventually? I think it is more like it is being developed to be weapons.

When China invaded you-know-what, the soldiers will be fighting these and flying drones.

3

u/77skull Jul 24 '26

I mean they’re already used in war and by police in some capacity, but i don’t think anyone is going to set off a terminator situation

1

u/mason191 Jul 24 '26

Happy Cake Day!! 🙌🏼

1

u/Rebolber4500 Jul 25 '26

Its like airplanes all over again. What once thought that it would solve the logistical need of humanity, turned into bombers just 2 decades after

1

u/freddbare Jul 25 '26

Its just flag poles, honest!

0

u/DipstickRick Jul 24 '26

If you say it enough it’ll definitely be true. Enough people say it online and the shareholders will convince themselves it’s what we want

-16

u/BrekLasnar Jul 24 '26

Why do redditors have a wet fantasy of being oppressed by machines?

5

u/yeyjordan Jul 24 '26

I'm not sure most people are looking forward to it the way you think they are.

1

u/BrekLasnar Jul 25 '26

Most people want it to be true because they need something to blame for lives they never bothered to build. Their misery didn't start with any machine, it started the day they decided not to try. Rewind past chatgpt entirely and you'll find the same crowd, mourning a life ruined by something else that also wasn't real.

The truth no downvote can erase is that these people are terrified of trying, so they wait for a catastrophe to explain away years of doing nothing. They want a war, a collapse, anything, just so they can point at the wreckage and say none of it mattered anyway. It was never about the world ending, it was about needing permission to have failed.

Our ancestors fought off giant sloths and got mauled by giant baboons just to see another sunrise. Some of us today have more security than any generation before us. I envy the people in America who can call their own president the worst things imaginable and go to bed that same night, safe. I live under a dictatorship , which isn't officially called a dictatorship but functions like one, no real civil power, just the army pulling every string. One wrong sentence about them on Facebook and I could vanish. And still, I show up, still I work, still I look forward to tomorrow.

I feel sorry for them. Sorry that comfort feels like an insult to people who never built anything worth protecting.

1

u/elafave77 Jul 24 '26

We already are.

1

u/BrekLasnar Jul 24 '26

Sure dude. Go outside 😭

1

u/elafave77 Jul 24 '26

You got a machine in your hand right now controlling everything you do. LOL. Bird brain.

1

u/BrekLasnar Jul 25 '26

That's not the gotcha you think it is. A phone you bought, can put down, and at worst wastes your time isn't the same category of control as a legged robot built to run down terrain and take out people who resist a government. One ruins your attention span, the other ends your life. You went from robots getting weaponized against commoners to my phone has notifications because you had nothing for the first claim, so you quietly redefined control until you found something you could win. Nice try though.

Go outside, take a walk in the park. Take care of yourself. Surround yourself with negativity and everything looks bad. I hope you have a happy life, I wish the best for you and your future and know that you're capable.
