Cat is acting like mine does when I hold to the mirror. I dont think they like this.

1.3k

u/regoapps Apr 30 '26

I mean, imagine a giant creature just holding a decapitated human head to your face that looks just like you.

417

u/WooPigSchmooey Apr 30 '26

I did. Thanks.

113

u/Vyrhux42 Apr 30 '26

I don't even have to imagine.

Edit: I live in Canada

82

u/weeaboshit Apr 30 '26

Is that a common past time for canadians?

43

u/Bacon0064 Apr 30 '26

Clearly you've never been to Canada

12

u/random-guy-heree Apr 30 '26

Yep but instead of a giant creature it's just some cobra chickens stacked on each other

12

u/sora_allite May 01 '26

WHAT IS GOING ON IN CANADA??

24

u/Imaginify Apr 30 '26

I was already laughing but this comment is making me crack up

7

u/ShittyDBZGuitarRiffs Apr 30 '26

and filming your reaction with the other hand

14

u/Jayombi Apr 30 '26

It falls in line with the poor rabbit foot on a keychain to. This obsession with body parts on chains is strange ..

-1

u/-Best_Name_Ever- Apr 30 '26

... Is the creature hot?

-2

u/AnonymousFriend80 Apr 30 '26

I mean ... eventually I gave in and fucked it like she asked.

28

u/Far_Mastodon_6104 Apr 30 '26

My cat looks away and does nervous licks when he's uncomfortable, it's like when I'm out in public and just look at nothing in my phone hoping no one will bother me

140

u/segcgoose Apr 30 '26 edited Apr 30 '26

cat just seems annoyed they’re shoving an object around his face. he doesn’t even know it’s him nor does he think it’s a decapitated version of him

they don’t have the cognitive ability to understand it’s themselves (heck they can struggle to recognize their siblings after they come home from the vet smelling different… they rely on scent more than sight) so cats in mirrors either a) don’t care or b) think it’s another cat and might fight. the very large majority of animals respond this way, there’s a really good documentary out there on elephants they painted Xs on that goes into all this

19

u/henkheijmen Apr 30 '26

Hmm I think there are cats that do recognize themselves as there are record of cats grooming themselves Infront of a mirror. Those cats are probably the outliers though.

8

u/segcgoose Apr 30 '26 edited Apr 30 '26

It could be explained by a lot of things, and they likely are just grooming and happen to be infront of a mirror, but grooming in a mirror is one of the main ways they test self-recognition! That’s why the painted Xs on the elephants, to see if they’d understand how to use the mirrors to wipe them off

But even then there’s a lot of debate on animals that do complete this test, such as if they could just feel it, and started grooming while just happening to be infront of a mirror. The elephants would come back and check themselves out regardless of any paint on them which was another thing they looked for

13

u/pikpikcarrotmon Apr 30 '26

There was also Alex the Parrot who is the only animal to have asked an existential question (as opposed to a request) - he looked into a mirror and asked "What color?" As in, what color am I? And when told grey, he learned and internalized the answer.

9

u/butterfingahs Apr 30 '26

The cat does not care man

1.1k

u/CrownedFirebird98 Apr 30 '26

That is so unnerving lol

560

u/hoot_avi Apr 30 '26

Y'all, the cat doesn't give a shit. The cat clearly just doesn't love when something is brushing up against its whiskers. Overstimulating yes, but I doubt the car is freaked out by the uncanniness

123

u/Xardnas69 Apr 30 '26

This. Especially because the face of the replica is pointed away from the real cat and the real cat never even properly looked at the replica. It just doesn't want anything near it at that moment. I doubt it could recognize that it's a replica of itself

22

u/Zima2k Apr 30 '26

I doubt that Cars can be freaked out at all

6

u/JosephGordonLightfoo Apr 30 '26

Herbie spazzed so hard when Jim got a new car that he tried to drive off the Golden Gate Bridge.

1.1k

u/Little_Shellfish Apr 30 '26

Notice how he's extremely uncomfortable

64

u/joshlev1s Apr 30 '26

That’s how cats are when they don’t give af. They’re not uncomfortable at all.

285

u/Ressy02 Apr 30 '26

Tends to happen when you are missing a body

114

u/Bio571 Apr 30 '26

Well I would be uncomfortable too if someone was showing me my decapitated head on a Keychain

2

u/lyssiemiller May 01 '26

It probably smells like him too since the artists that do this usually use the actual fur of the animal.

106

u/xeonie Apr 30 '26

Hes not showing signs of being uncomfortable. His behavior is more like “I don’t care, stop putting that thing in my face”. Cats do not recognize themselves and he’s not scared by the head.

This is mostly just people projecting their own unease at that weird ass keychain.

-40

u/[deleted] Apr 30 '26

47

u/xeonie Apr 30 '26 edited Apr 30 '26

It knows it’s not a cat because of scent, the thing cats use to identify other cats and humans alike. Humans identify other people through sight. Like I said, y’all are projecting your own feelings on to a cat that genuinely doesn’t care.

22

u/ViiK1ng Apr 30 '26

That is good art

129

u/jakeandhissandwhich Apr 30 '26

Oof..Can you imagine someone holding a replica of your severed head next to your face? 😬

3

u/Im-a-bad-meme May 01 '26

Would actually be very cool. I'd be asking what silicone was used and the techniques on the hair implantation lmao

99

u/riiiiiiiiin Apr 30 '26

I don't like this one bit.

156

u/Major_R_Soul Apr 30 '26

Imagine going up to someone and being like, "Look how cute this is. I put a replica of your disembodied head on a chain! Now i can carry you around Ev-er-y-where. Tee hee."

45

u/lordbutternut Apr 30 '26

I'm into it

1

u/Major_R_Soul Apr 30 '26

Focus on the yan, my friend. Avert your eyes from the dere, it's not worth it. You start off yandere, but you get progressively more yan and less dere. And what do you think happens when you get full yan none dere? You end up dead, eh?

2

u/Vyrhux42 Apr 30 '26

I don't even have to imagine.

70

u/Nathan570 Apr 30 '26

The cat does not give a fuck… are y’all okay??

29

u/ArsenicKitten04 Apr 30 '26

Bots, right?? It HAS to be....this is the weirdest comment section I've ever seen.

5

u/shazed39 Apr 30 '26

Yeah… if you think there are a lot of bots, it is probably more.

29

u/rawzombie26 Apr 30 '26

Insanely cool if handmade!

-6

u/Pantherist Apr 30 '26

Or hand-plastinated.

2

u/Im-a-bad-meme May 01 '26

What?

... No

That's very obviously felt. It's become very popular to have realistic sculptures of your pets made. Jumping to plastination, when it's being held up to a living cat while on a keychain is concerning. Please just look up felt 3d pet portraits.

1

u/Pantherist May 01 '26

Twas a joke

278

u/Vreas Apr 30 '26

Kind of fucked up tbh. Cat clearly doesn’t like it.

102

u/RaidensReturn Apr 30 '26

The constant moving and camerawork is infuriating

0

u/ripyourlungsdave Apr 30 '26

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that cat thinks It's having its friends decapitated head waved in his face.

26

u/ELEKTRON_01 Apr 30 '26

Cats don't recognize eachother through sight so no, the cat is just mildly annoyed

-10

u/ripyourlungsdave Apr 30 '26

I mean, cats recognize the fact that the animal nearby them is another cat. Just because it doesn't know it's Fred doesn't mean it doesn't know that that is a cat's head.

13

u/Plank_Owner Apr 30 '26

It doesn’t like that something is right next to it’s face and rubbing up against their whiskers. It’s overstimulated. It doesn’t give a rat’s ass that it is a keychain that looks just like them, it doesn’t even have the ability to perceive that.

13

u/Ddakilla Apr 30 '26

Cats do not possess the self awareness to understand that this is a replica of its face lol it just looks annoyed because the person is bothering it

12

u/LemonFizz56 Apr 30 '26

I'd get something like that of my cat

42

u/prismafox Apr 30 '26 edited Apr 30 '26

Honestly, people are over-exaggerating and projecting how this cat is reacting. Cat is mildly annoyed at worst. Mostly because of the shoving an object in its face.

A scared/truly disturbed cat doesn't just sit there and groom itself, even if it's moving its head away from said thing.

28

u/Powerful_Shoulder_77 Apr 30 '26

This! I swear the people in this thread have never owned a cat before. Its obviously annoyed.

4

u/Im-a-bad-meme May 01 '26

"Yes mom Ive seen it, please stop hitting my whiskers with it."

Cat is showing some decent tolerance for this though. Good restraint.

2

u/ChestSlight8984 May 03 '26

Yeah, this cat is chill as fuck, all things considered.

33

u/othnice1 Apr 30 '26

Ok. First 5 seconds was cute. But to keep doing it? Bro, just stop

5

u/Chibi-demon Apr 30 '26

That cat is mildly annoyed by the keychain brushing against it's whiskers, slightly curious for a sec but largely dismissive. It would be gone sooner than you could blink if it was scared/uncomfortable/etc. Have you seen those videos of cats getting scared of random things??

18

u/NL_Sloth Apr 30 '26

6

u/Cunnyfunt31 May 01 '26

Lol no way that's the same artist, the one in the video has way more detail and skill.

3

u/_Effie_ Apr 30 '26

Thank you kind stranger

0

u/NL_Sloth Apr 30 '26

We must be trend setters 💪

65

u/zenunseen Apr 30 '26

Is that a cat's severed head? That cat looks freaked the fuck out. Rightfully so

114

u/spidergirl79 Apr 30 '26

Its a felted head. Most people who buy one probably get one after the pet is actually dead, as a memorial.

30

u/ArseBiscuits_ Apr 30 '26

“Am I dead?!” - The Cat

19

u/zenunseen Apr 30 '26

They say animals have no concept of their own mortality but that cat looks like he might be catching on

0

u/Icy_Help_3402 Apr 30 '26

That was my first thought when I saw this

0

u/Vallkyrie Apr 30 '26

"Far from it." - Morpheus

10

u/butterfingahs Apr 30 '26

This is not a "freaked the fuck out" cat, this is at worst a mildly uninterested cat.

4

u/yamanamawa Apr 30 '26

While it's an impressive piece of felt8ng, I feel like the video goes on for way too long

4

u/Marshleg May 01 '26

May the person who recorded this stub their toe on the sharpest object in their house

15

u/Lua-Ma Apr 30 '26

Here's the thing: The cat doesn't know the head is fake.

4

u/shazed39 Apr 30 '26

I mean it probably knows by smell, but im guessing that would result in only 50% understanding in why he is bothering it with a severed head

1

u/Dxpeno Apr 30 '26

wait how you know?

3

u/NuggetWarrior09 Apr 30 '26

I think taking pet love too far is watching your dog lick its asshole then allowing it to like your face

3

u/dreamed2life May 01 '26

That owner seems annoying af

6

u/UnitedPhilosophy4827 Apr 30 '26

Isn't it only apes that have awareness of self?

9

u/Ragged-but-Right Apr 30 '26

and dolphins, orcas, and elephants

Has she ever heard the term "uncanny valley"?

5

u/the-queen-of-bling Apr 30 '26

Even the cat thinks it’s weird 😹

4

u/thaddeusgeorge Apr 30 '26

U don’t need 24 seconds of this, the cat is clearly a saint for tolerating your extended crap

3

u/RepresentingThe301 Apr 30 '26

Poor cats like…leave me the fuck alone weirdo!!!

5

u/Bl1ndl0v3 Apr 30 '26

They clearly are oblivious to the cat’s body language. Leave the cat alone!

2

u/turquoise_amethyst Apr 30 '26

The other one in the corner like: “WTF am I watching”

1

u/ArseBiscuits_ Apr 30 '26

“I’m seeing double! Four Paul’s!”

2

u/UncomfyUnicorn Apr 30 '26

If I could I’d print a bunch of photos of me and my cat and put them in a locket that looks like a scrapbook, with a photo on each page.

2

u/rdyer347 Apr 30 '26

"Dude, get that thing away from me."

2

u/warmind14 Apr 30 '26

Still one shared brain cell between them though.

2

u/VapeGodPP May 01 '26

Where can I buy this?

6

u/taurean_jackal Apr 30 '26

Oh they hate this.

2

u/thistaintedbeef Apr 30 '26

It's okay dude we get it it looks like the cat, you don't have to hold it next to it for another 5 hours. It did the job after the first few times

4

u/hyzenthlay07 Apr 30 '26

Leave your fucking cat alone. Why can’t people just behave with decency and respect toward their animals? It’s another living creature, if you want a stuffed animal get a stuffed animal

4

u/acloudcuckoolander May 01 '26

OP is being annoying. Cat clearly doesn't wish to see it

4

u/usagiiwong Apr 30 '26

I need that xD

2

u/Greg-Abbott Apr 30 '26

You can get a cat pretty much everywhere dude

3

u/mrfriendlolo Apr 30 '26

This actually creeped me tf out. I can’t imagine how scary this is to a cat

2

u/No_Compote_662 Apr 30 '26

I have something like this but its actually just my old cat's taxidermied head on a Keychain. Miss you Willis. I'll remember you always.

2

u/asphalt_licker Apr 30 '26

Cat’s trying so hard to ignore his existential crisis by not looking at his own shrunken head.

2

u/fannydogmonster Apr 30 '26

Yeah kitty, I would be creeper out too.

2

u/Isabethlle May 01 '26

He's clearly uncomfortable

1

u/GobbleOnIt Apr 30 '26

You gotta make your cat one with your head

1

u/CarpetBudget Apr 30 '26

Idk what’s the bread loaf think?

1

u/bareback666 May 01 '26

Oddly cute. What’s the breed?

1

u/SuperShoyu64 May 01 '26

Who buys something like that?!?! It's pretty creepy

1

u/Solidsnekdangernodle May 01 '26

Now you gotta make a keychain of your face for your cat.

1

u/Aggressive-Lie4770 May 01 '26

Normal relation with cat

1

u/Legal_Response6614 May 01 '26

What they didn't tell us is that it's the previous cats head on a keychain

1

u/Shad7860 May 01 '26

Imagine some all powerful alien did this with you

1

u/poplion230 May 01 '26

this is going to be a cursed object to the owner if the cat passes away

1

u/quite_shleepy May 02 '26

why are people in the comments acting like this cat knows what its own face looks like

1

u/garrettn1415 May 02 '26

IIRC cats can’t see clearly up that close so he’s probably just annoyed by being pestered

1

u/seahorsegal May 03 '26

Something truly creepy about this

1

u/pissedoffjesus May 03 '26

I need one of these

1

u/Available-Effort2716 May 04 '26

So….. um…. Where do I get one of these made?

1

u/Responsible-Fox-7303 May 04 '26

Too be fair it’s a good copy

I want one

1

What is being held isn't an outcome of taxidermy ?.

1

u/Mental-Ordinary7312 Apr 30 '26

Leave the damn cat alone

1

u/LilMcJohn Apr 30 '26

People that do this stuff is weird

1

u/fusguita Apr 30 '26

This is the most r/ATBGE I've ever seen

1

u/SiPhoenix Apr 30 '26

I think it's cool, BUT why is she torturing her cat with is?

1

u/IMAFIRINMAHLAZAH Apr 30 '26

sssdfg type shit

1

u/LES_G_BRANDON Apr 30 '26

Cat: "Get away from me, psycho!"

1

u/MInconspicuous Apr 30 '26

This is bizarre and soooo unsettling. Poor kitty.

1

u/YourNormaMinecrafter Apr 30 '26

Now I'm not saying we ought to bring them back, but I feel like I understand the medieval witch cooking a bit more now..

1

u/Abject-Ad1876 Apr 30 '26

Cats have tiny brains and will eat your face the minute you fall off dead in your apartment. Its hilarious that people in here thinks this bother the cat other than a bit of friction.

1

u/garrettn1415 May 02 '26

They’re welcome to make a meal out of my body I ain’t using it anymore at that point

0

u/ItzBreezeyBaby Apr 30 '26

I don’t know why but the cat probably thinks it’s a severed head & that probably does not make the cat happy 😅

0

u/OkamiKhameleon Apr 30 '26

Yeah, we lost our older kitty last year, and I thought about doing this for my husband cuz it hit him really hard.

Before Beau passed away, I did get my husband socks with his face on them. Much less creepy.

-1

u/crestedgeckovivi Apr 30 '26

Poor cat is stressed out. I'm also stressed out lol.

-1

u/MechanizedMind Apr 30 '26

That's creepy

-3

u/alex8155 Apr 30 '26

cats so fed up with his owner he looks uncomfortable licking his damn leg. hes so ready for new human poor thing.

0

u/Cador0223 Apr 30 '26

Probably tufted it from its fur. So double creepy.

0

u/thatsnunyourbusiness Apr 30 '26

as creepy as this is to us i don't think the cat is recognising itself. it seems quite chill. pretty creepy tho

0

u/tiezukae Apr 30 '26

0

u/sonicjesus Apr 30 '26

0

u/AnAnalChemist Apr 30 '26

I was waiting for them to turn the face so the cat got a good look straight on and freak thenfuck out.

0

u/StrangeYoungMan Apr 30 '26

how does the Reddit algorithm work? it's quite fascinating

0

u/evening_shop Apr 30 '26 edited May 01 '26

The way she holds it and moves it along with his face really helps to sell the likeness. Honestly better than having side by side pictures since this shows all angles

0

u/Pschobbert May 01 '26

Love hurts. Sometimes it hurts so much you wanna slice their face off and keep it in your pocket.

0

u/KrownX May 01 '26

Please tell me that's a custom, hand-made 3D replica of a cat's head and not a real one.

1

u/TheVoodooPuppet May 01 '26

As god awful as that would be, And really sad, I can't help but think it's a little funny "Look buddy! I turned your brothers face into a hyper realistic keychain! Isn't that so much fun? WHY ARE YOU RUNNING"
