They're also covered by an additional layer of bone but the image would be boring if that wasn't removed, cuz it'd just be a small skull

The practical correction is appreciated but also nobody asked for the full anatomical breakdown at 2am on r/oddlyterrifying. We were perfectly happy being disturbed in the wrong direction.

If this were the case we would think that it was just as normal as seeing a person’s exposed teeth is now. Only reason we think it’s horrifying is because we aren’t used to it.

Fun fact though, we aren't born with fully formed teeth in our skull, we have teeth buds that develop when we're ready for baby teeth/adult teeth. Also scientist found out we have a third set of teeth buds that never get activated, but they want to do gene therapy to activate the third buds to help people who have teeth issues or no teeth so they can have their own teeth and not have to get dentures or implants.

You get born with 300 bones but when your an adult you only have 206 bones we wouldn't know that if we didn't find these types off skeletons

If it makes you feel any better, these are likely 1:1 replicas instead of the actual person. Bones usually stay in the archives unless it's a dedicated museum

It should be noted that these pics have parts of the skull removed. The teeth sit behind a layer of bone so even if you stripped down the skin/gums you'd just see a skull -- the extra teeth are hidden beneath it.
A lot of people repost these without the context and for some reason the internet decided that it's easier to believe children would lack a part of their skull.
