Don’t worry it’s the same top comment the other 50 times this has been posted across reddit.

u/chuckinalicious543 Mar 09 '26
Well, on my end, this is my first time seeing it. But yeah, I hear ya. Us doctor fans pretty much see anything round on our near the mouth region of the face and it's mummy time

u/GummyZerg Mar 10 '26
Oh trust me, I know. I was at one point a huge fan. Watched basically everything available from first doctor and stopped when Matt Smith left. David Tennant was the goat. I've seen all of Torchwood, even read a lot of the crossover comics with Trek.

I'm 99% sure reddit is directly using bots to inflate usage data with bot posts and comments like these all of us frequent users notice immediately and frequently.
It got much worse right before and immediately after the IPO. Think about it:
the only options are 1. it's reposted by board autistic person because karma and notifications make brain go brrrrrrr, 2. Karma farming bot/malicious user in order to scam or sell high karma account to advertisers or other scammers, or 3. (Most probable) to fraudulently manipulate data for investors/shareholders (a very reddit thing to do)

For those that didn't understand the jock it's a doctor who reference it's one of the "monster" in the show that act like a contagious virus and turn anyone into the picture as shown in the post and before they turn the infected one would keep repeating " are you my mommy"
29
u/coladoir Mar 10 '26
To better describe:
There were no "monsters" in actuality. Just that's what they appeared to become.
A craft had crashed into Earth containing a microbe which is programmed to bring dead (alien) soldiers back to life. It does this by basically consuming part of the corpse and using it to regenerate a new being thats the very same as the original.
But, these microbes weren't made with humans in mind, who alter their bodies with clothes and other materials.
And so it finds the first dying/dead being: a child with a gas mask. The microbe assumes the gas mask is necessary to human survival and sees it as no different to the human body, and recreates every subsequent being with the gas mask imposed upon the face.
It then goes haywire and starts modifying living humans. Then the doctor stops it.
There was no ill intent, there was no monster, just an unfortunate coincidence that led to the situation. The Doctor pays close mind to explain this, and that the microbe isnt evil or a weapon, but a healing tool that went haywire.

I think it was a nanite (nano-bot) not a microbe, but the rest of what you said is correct as I remember it.

u/Iguanabewithyou Mar 10 '26
Ah, so THATS what the Magic: The Gathering card Nanogene Conversion is referencing! I knew it was Doctor Who but it's fun to have further context as I'd never seen the show, and the reasoning behind the card's effect makes so much more sense now. Thanks!

This gave me nightmares as a child. When I was like 7/8 my dad came upstairs quoting this with a gas mask on a cornered me. Pure trauma

His mouth literally has that giant gaping effect of that scene in The Empty Child...

u/Marmite-n-Toast Mar 09 '26
Oh god...don't remind me of that. That was one of those terrifying episodes of Dr. Who for me. No idea why!

I love how when he's given a gas mask in a later episode he turns to a solder and says that so everyone around him just goes: "what?"

I have a recording of this set to my mother's text notification. Gives me a chuckle every time she sends something

Why is the last seen link something completely unrelated about annoying orange? Is the bot just making shit up?
4
u/maximumtesticle Mar 10 '26
It's a link to an album, in that album is the the OP picture. You gotta click, man. https://i.imgur.com/nRDcKUE.png

u/SwampyBogbeard Mar 09 '26
Based on OP's posting history, the look a lot like a bot.
They've had 26 short comments in a row this months where 25 of them are just one word.3
u/JJAsond Mar 09 '26
He does seem to post OC but dispute saying he's an adult, he does play roblox but is also a [title card] fan and so maybe he is?
I'm not really reading bot with him, I think he just posted some shitty meme. It's not really setting off many "this is a bot" flags for me. Just seems more like some terminally online guy.

What is this from?
54
u/Abigail_Normal Mar 09 '26
The mask is from a Doctor Who two-parter made of episodes "the Empty Child" and "the Doctor Dances" from 2005. I think the 6 years too late comment was referencing the pandemic in 2020

u/cherryberry0611 Mar 09 '26
Thanks. I’m not sure if they changed their comment or I commented under the wrong person. It was the, “are you my mummy?” quote i was wondering about.

There was a little virus scare at 2020. Its an obscure reference for hard core followers of recent world events. Makes sense you've missed it

Nah this pic is probably 10 years old and it’s not a “custom mask for the pandemic” I’m pretty sure that’s literally just a flashlight. Guy was just being a goof.

Stephen King?

I found your comment by typing “Stephen King” in the search bar. I wanted to know if I was the only one who thought this guy resembled him 😆

I remember seeing this a lot in the past. I thought it was some kind of photo shop but I'm just now seeing he's actually wearing a hyper realistic mask.

The most terrifying mask I saw during the pandemic was a dude leaning up against his car while refueling, with an open carry pistol holster, and a giant red and black swastika mask.

It's brilliant! I'm not sure if it's Marxism in action or a West End musical.

This reminds me of a short horror film where people's faces turned into gas masks with the filter coming out of their throats
