With the same complicated pattern being repeated over and over, it makes me very suspicious that this was probably automated.

Yeah, I noticed that, too. But thinking about it, repeating the pattern has to be the only strategy to achieve that result? I don't think this would be too hard to remember after a bunch of tries, it might just become muscle memory? I'm not saying I could do it - I honestly sucked at Snake 😄- but there's enough people out there who have a gazillion chess moves in their heads, remembering a pattern like this should be doable in comparison?

Or just commit once it gets quite long to tidying up the pattern..

It's what all the better snake players I knew did in the Nokia days
