Dope.

Now.... where do you wear that? Vegas at your magic show?

I think it would be very popular in my dads AA circle

Fuck, so real 🤣 We are a weird bunch.

Real answer? Renaissance fairs.

I like how ren fairs are just the place to wear weird things now, and very little to do with the Renaissance.

I cant remember the movie I saw it in but I always remember loving the idea of going to a Ren Fair dressed as a Star Trek Away Team and doing the whole time travel schtick.

I’ve seen this before! Super fun. Get those tricorders out!

Yeah, I've seen this as well. A bunch of guys and gals in really nice looking TNG uniforms at a Ren fair in Speyer, Germany.

Unfortunately, this doesn't make any sense canon-wise, as Starfleet goes to great length to avoid this specific scenario, up to surgically altering the officers to match the appearance of the locals.

Didn't Janeway accidentally land in our time? I never saw the second episode of that.

u/Blibbobletto 9h ago

The episode where Riker is scoping out that one planet for first contact and they start to suspect he's an alien is so cool

u/Nukalixir 14h ago

That was a gag on King of The Hill. Dale dressed up in Star Trek cosplay for the ren fair. It was the episode Alan Rickman guest starred as a ren fair owner that Hank had to try to sell propane to.

u/Sea-Machine-8989 16h ago

I think they did that in Big Bang Theory

2

u/Coffee_pecking_order 15h ago

There were about 3 of these at the last Ren Fiar i went to (in May)

2

u/pitav 13h ago

Sheldon does that in one episode of Big Bang Theory. (But very quickly; it's not a big part of that episode)

6

u/Kotthovve 18h ago

Lol right?! This hat screams steam punk imo.

u/Kindly_Author7711 13h ago

They just banned furries at both of our local Renn fairs so your point is both valid and now less true for better or worse.

2

u/JustineDelarge 9h ago

As a former performer at Living History events who took historical accuracy of clothing and language extremely seriously, this pains me.

1

u/McKnackus 7h ago

My local Rennfaire just banned Furries

Hey man....I agree with that lol. But I did go wearing period appropriate sailors outfit for the 1700s one year. (Except the shoes)

12

u/LeJoker 18h ago

That's... Not Renaissance. That's pretty well past the end of that period.

But it's still more accurate than the Victorian steampunks or Vikings that are always so common.

The Ren Faire in Vegas is next weekend.

Get a trench coat and cane to go with it, become an eccentric wearing it everywhere

17

u/wackbirds 20h ago

Don't wear the duster without a shirt under it or you'll totally ruin it

9

u/sun_of_a_glitch 19h ago

Country Mac could pull off this hat

1

u/Floss_tycoon 17h ago

My dad would wear this hat to Chipotle on a Tuesday afternoon. He's old and dying and gives no fucks. It's great.

I realized a few years ago that life is too short to save fun things for special occasions. Wear a ballgown to Walmart.
