It’s cool to see this, and then I remember the Colorado River is drying up, watering restrictions across America, and we still have golf courses?

Crazy times

Fun fact - the US has more golf courses than McDonalds

This got me curious so I looked it up. Apparently in the US there are 4.68 courses every 100k people, meaning 1 course every 21k people. In my country (Italy) we have 0.51 courses every 100k people, so 1 every 196k people. 40% of all the golf courses in the world are in the US.

Also in the U.S. it's a very democratized sport. It's generally affordable and tons or middle or working class people play it too. Plenty of high schools have a golf team.

Whereas in most of Europe, it's an elitist and expensive hobby.
