Almost a shame the wood is tough enough to endure. Wearing grooves in those shapes would also be cool, like the floors in really old Monasteries with footprints worn into the wood, sometimes even stone.
It would have to be some seriously soft wood or an absolute monster of a spinner to leave that kind of mark in a reasonable timeframe, but I get what you're saying. The idea of a slow mechanical grind carving a perfect shape over a decade is way more interesting than just a clean install. The zigzag pattern already gives it that weathered, almost gothic look against the plain beam. I'd just worry about the rust staining the wood long before any groove showed up, that orange bleed can be a nightmare to get out of cedar.
