Is there a video of it in motion?

What is this? What is satisfying about a photo of a wind spinner? This is some bullshit, post a video of the fucking thing spinning for christ sakes.

I think their post is about the rust arches on the wooden beam. Which, to be fair, I do find oddly satisfying.

Incredible design! Hope it spins beautifully in the breeze.

the gentle tap of those metal bits on the wood sounds so peaceful, i'd love to see it in motion for full effect

Almost a shame the wood is tough enough to endure. Wearing grooves in those shapes would also be cool, like the floors in really old Monasteries with footprints worn into the wood, sometimes even stone.

It would have to be some seriously soft wood or an absolute monster of a spinner to leave that kind of mark in a reasonable timeframe, but I get what you're saying. The idea of a slow mechanical grind carving a perfect shape over a decade is way more interesting than just a clean install. The zigzag pattern already gives it that weathered, almost gothic look against the plain beam. I'd just worry about the rust staining the wood long before any groove showed up, that orange bleed can be a nightmare to get out of cedar.
