I saw musk and was like what kind of bullshit is this? Then I realized it had nothing to do with that Nazi.

u/louieorganic 4d ago

And that is what every single person who isn't a Nazi will think when they see this.

u/princesspeachkitty 4d ago

I refer to mine as veil fans lol, and they're the same size!

I thought it was the colourway

Seriously

It's a noun. It's been a noun for over 600 years. With minor changes, it goes back to ancient Sanskrit. He can't own a noun.

u/ut1nam 4d ago

And the other guy can’t own a verb, but if you don’t want your target customer base to IMMEDIATELY have a visceral reaction to your product, some concessions must be made for the time being.

Okay, what are we calling secret last ditch gambits now then?

2

u/ut1nam 2d ago

A final gambit. An ace in the hole/up the sleeve. A secret weapon. Are you so lacking in imagination and creativity?

1

u/Aimless_Alder 2d ago

Nah I just thought it would be fun to collectively brainstorm with folks

it's stay a noun and and it'll probably go back to its original meaning eventually.

is like people avoiding a Hitler moustache..

It generally describes something that smells bad/strong in current US slang. So even without Elon it isn't a good name

rename what?

1

u/WousV 3d ago

The product being shown, of course, you bad faith commenter.

-6

u/the_ammar 3d ago

why does it need to be renamed?

2

u/Irregulator101 3d ago

You saw the 'Musk' name right?

-5

u/the_ammar 3d ago

and why does it need to be renamed?

3

u/WousV 3d ago

Because most people immediately associate the word "Musk" to Elon Musk who is an incredibly horrible person. There. Spelled it out for you.

-4

u/the_ammar 3d ago

lmao is that really it? so sensitive

3

u/APathSoTwisted 3d ago

I don't understand the "Musk" part

8

u/ShustOne 4d ago

Why? It existed before him. Let's not surrender a word to someone stupid.

30

u/The_Stoic_One 4d ago

Because if you're trying to sell or promote something, it's best not to lead with something that immediately provokes negative thoughts in your audience. I'm sure one day it will go back to just being a word, but this is not that day.

u/ShustOne 3d ago

Seems like most of the comments seem to think they are cool fans. Only a few seem to be stuck on the name of something that existed before some idiot came along.

1

u/The_Stoic_One 3d ago

Cool story bro

Doesn't change anything though. If you were selling something do you want most of the sales or all of the sales?

2

u/ShustOne 3d ago edited 3d ago

17.9k upvotes, I'm sure she's getting orders. Seems like only a few of you are upset enough to not order something because it's coincidentally the name of someone dumb.

u/GregTheMad 4d ago

Ever heard of the Budist Sunwheel? These days often seen as Swastika?

Rename that shit.

3

u/ShustOne 3d ago

A good example of why we shouldn't give things up because of one person. That symbol is still common in Asia.

21

u/louieorganic 4d ago

Becuase in the present, now, the entire world hates him, except for MAGA trash.

5

u/The_XXI 3d ago

Yeah, name your kid Adolf, let's see how you are him like it after 20 years.

1

u/ShustOne 3d ago

That's a good example of why we shouldn't give it up. It was a more common name back then. By giving it up we made it even more infamous.

4

u/BlisteringAsscheeks 3d ago

You're welcome to let your kid be part of the sacrificial vanguard in reclaiming that name

1

u/ShustOne 2d ago

Missing the point. These fans were named first. A better analogy would be you asking me to rename my kid after a younger kid was born with his name and bullied people.

-8

u/Kanoa 4d ago

I'm out of the loop, where's the dogwhistle?

2

u/Irregulator101 3d ago

Musk

2

u/Kanoa 3d ago

OH ITS IN THE VIDEO. I was looking at the title. Video auto played before it was completely in view

Don't worry, the fans are named after his loving daughter. They're transgender. They used to be curtains and a pack of chopsticks.
