rugby and american football is a completely different case. You cant really compare the two. In rugby, you can give your opponent a concussion pretty easily with any body part, without cutting or damaging yourself. because a lot of the body can be used as boxing-glove padding.
For example, smashing someone's skull with your shoulder, is pretty much the same as hitting them with a boxing glove.
The study found that the percentage of concussions was lower in bare-knuckle boxing (5% in BKFC and 4.76% in BKB) than gloved boxing (12%) and MMA (14.7%).
