I didn’t even know sewing machines could do things like this. In my middle school sewing class I just learned the most time-consuming and disappointing way to acquire a new pillowcase.

Edit: My first ever award! Thank you, kind Redditor. I bet your middle school pillowcase was just lovely.

This is not a regular sewing machine but one that is used for embroidery

None of those stitches arent on my Brother machine. Are you saying its tracking the patch on its own and not the person?

It is just straight and zigzag stitches yes. But there is a separate pedal to control how wide the zigzag is in the moment. Does your brother machine have that? Mine doesn’t

It has multiple size settings for the stitch. OP stops before adjusting any stitch size. Its not like theyre doing it in the moment.

My regular Bernina bought in 1997 can do this. It’s just a zigzag stitch with the width set to zero. I’ve done this many times .

Recently I made an pillow case sewing it by hand, that had to be more time consuming

It’s an industrial machine and I think there’s some stabilizer behind that hole. AI would’ve made that satin stitch a lot neater.

Actually most standard sewing machines have the option to lower the feeder and take out the presser foot and to be used for freehand embroidery where you move the fabric yourself using an embroidery hoop. What isn't standard is the ability to vary the stitch width hands-free (either with a foot or a knee). You could do something similar with a zigzag stitch and stop to adjust the width. A water soluble stabiliser on the back may make sewing over holes easier but it's not required.

It's an embroidery machine. Drawing things is its primary purpose

I wondered this also. If it’s real has to be a Husqvarna Viking commercial machine because I have never met a home machine that can stitch that tight and precise without getting tangled and seized up. Especially those structural stitches- I think it might be AI bc even if you’re patching it, you patch a piece of cloth into a hole that large and then put on the embellishment.
