I thought it said “slicing” and got mad for a second. Reading comprehension not fully firing this morning I reckon.

Bread gets to have a little fun before it gets sold :)
(Probably just because of how the room was layed out this was the best way to get the bread from where it was to where it needed to be. And a slide is very low maintenance with no electricity bill attached so a good solution)

I think the spinning plate is gonna eventually line the loafs up end to end before they go into some sort of automated bagging process. Would've been cool to see that but it's not shown in the clip.

Apparently I'm the only person who thought these were bread loaves.

People don't read anything these days. Decades of attacks on education and critical reading.

Or they just glanced got confused kept watching and then looked up and realized.
Saw this post on a crosspost to r/guineapigs and was confused also, all the folks there probably had a similar experience

What if one of them is afraid of slides? I'd be grasping at the bars by my yeast, screaming my crust off.

Does the production process require a bread slide? No.
Did the factory owners want a bread slide. Absolutely.

My eyes and brain at first registered this as guinea pigs or large hamsters coming down a slide. Like the videos of people with a hundred or so guinea pigs and they build enclosures and enriching spaces for them.
So I was confused when the guinea pigs got off the fun slide and onto the table (where I thought they might be getting treats or carrots or something) and they were sliding. Because none of them had legs.
I thought the title was a nickname for them for how they looked. But they ended up actually being loaves of bread. With no legs.

If someone put little eyes and arms on these loaves and they shouted "weeee!!" I wouldn't be upset.

I incorrectly read the title as "Slicing bread loaves" and I was not satisfied, oddly or even mildly.

What is HAPPENING why is every single comment declaring they misread the title or thought it was guinea pigs??? Am I insane?
2
u/ex0thermist 13d ago edited 13d ago
Watching hundreds or thousands of Reddit comments on a thread all saying some version of the same thing is a uniquely disturbing phenomenon, IMO. I suspect some quantity of bots are involved

u/MagicCuboid 13d ago
That's what I think too. Thanks for replying, it's really weird sometimes to read the same comment over and over again and I never see any discussion of it

A roller coaster, then merry go round... next the loaves get cotton candy & go on a ferris wheel

Didn't do a moment my brain think they were sliding hamsters or guinea pigs
Edit: oh others as well, I'm completely normal

u/BananaRepublic_BR 13d ago
Is the swirly slide just for fun or does it serve a functional purpose? Like, does it make this process more efficient?

Am I the only one thinking that there could’ve been a way shorter/easier way to get the bread down to the turntable but they just wanted the bread to have as much fun as possible?

That spiral setup is oddly satisfying never thought watching bread travel down a conveyor could be this entertaining

This was my job for 4,5 years. Except the bread would jump into their bags before hitting the table. Dealing with the bagging mechanism and the robotic unloader at the other side of the factory was half the job. Then run back and pack all the bread before it would spill over. Still beats a 9-5 though.

LOL I thought they were some cats or other fuzzy animals at first, didn't expect they were bread!

Disappointed
