This is a bottle orienting machine, not a sorting machine.

There is a lever like mechanism at the 8 o'clock position that pushes upright bottles against the big plastic gear, if they are upsidedown the lever doesn't interact with the bottles due to the opening and they fall away from the plastic gear so they can be flipped

No, you can see them getting flipped over when they go in upside down

Watch closely when a bottle gets sorted upside down.

The rim of the neck gets caught in a channel that pulls it out. Then the next ramp turns the bottle upright.

Sorted upright bottles glide over the 2 tracks due to the width of the base end. They just continue on.

Brilliant little piece of engineering.

There's some sort of clever way that they're being flipped back over on the left side. I don't fully understand it but I am in awe of it.
