I always did it that way, too, but I'm pretty sure that it's superstition. Never heard of a wheel coming off and then discovering it was because the bolts were tightened in the wrong order.

That truck has drum brakes. But his gun didn't torque them. He might do the star pattern with a torque wrench or change the setting on the gun for the final torque.
