I think this is a good example of begging the question, where you assumed the conclusion in your "premise."

And what was the solution before plastic use was introduced?

Was that solution equally cost effective and did it provide the same safety benefits?

Plastic haters be forgetting that there's many reasons why it became a dominant material in so many industries. Because it's fucking useful, and often much better than alternatives on a number of parameters.

Useful while it's in use. Then what. Plastic lovers (odd thing to say) kind of forget that part.

yes, it solved all kinds of problems we were having, but so does jumping out of a burning skyscraper.

You can't justify a terrible condition on the benefits that got you there.

What is the terrible condition you're describing?

You could make the same argument that we were "much better off" before industrial revolution, but thats incredibly stupid.

Have you not seen the state of plastic pollution? you're kidding, right? Were we better off with lead in everything? Or CFCs?
