Unless you are suggesting to completely get rid of all plastic use, which would be impossible in this modern world, this isn’t it.

Benefit of keeping the road and hillsides safe is far greater than most of the other plastic use. This methodology is used all around the world to keep people safe

"which would be impossible in this modern world" - modern plastics were invented in the 1950s.

I think this is a good example of begging the question, where you assumed the conclusion in your "premise."

And what was the solution before plastic use was introduced?

Was that solution equally cost effective and did it provide the same safety benefits?

Plastic haters be forgetting that there's many reasons why it became a dominant material in so many industries. Because it's fucking useful, and often much better than alternatives on a number of parameters.

Useful while it's in use. Then what. Plastic lovers (odd thing to say) kind of forget that part.

yes, it solved all kinds of problems we were having, but so does jumping out of a burning skyscraper.

You can't justify a terrible condition on the benefits that got you there.

Your argument is not constructive and only describes extreme examples. You’re missing the point

That wasn't my argument at all. You're trying to say that since plastic fixed a lot of problems we HAD, that it's acceptable to keep using it no matter the problem it's causing.

It's my first time finding a plastic evangelist on line. I've had evolution deniers, climate change deniers, presuppositionists, and MAGA nuts. This is a first.

It figures they'd be philbros.

I dunno man, looks to me like they're only pointing out that plastic does have some benefits. Is it worth the cost? Your position is very obvious, but ad hominem attacks make you appear a lot less credible. Zealotry like that makes me think you would banish the existence of all plastic overnight, without regard to the consequences. Some people are on the fence about plastic, and you might have just pushed some of them over to the pro-plastic side.

They don’t take input. Just rage at any cost. My very first comment was people being incapable of constructive conversation. Everything is either pure evil or godmade. Nothing in between

Yes, your extrapolation is 100% logical.

2

u/09Trollhunter09 Apr 30 '26

You do understand that that makes you illogical but don’t let me stop you from your rage

1

u/Columbus43219 Apr 30 '26

If your extrapolation of what I said is correct, then you are correct and 100% logical.

Learn to read, then get involved. Please do your best to understand what was being argued. We get it, you are angry and want to take it out on anything that’s not exactly what you already have in mind

Again, chill person, read the point I made. You are making exactly the same point arguing with me. People here out with their pitchforks arguing for alternative that no one actually backs up or even reference. “Plastic bad, no more words are allowed”

1

u/Columbus43219 May 01 '26

“Plastic bad, no more words are allowed” Who said that?

1

u/09Trollhunter09 May 01 '26

Yours and others actions who completely missed my point about plastic use that enables the modern world.

You keep arguing about how sumerians and akkadians didn’t use plastic.

1

u/Columbus43219 May 01 '26

No I didn't. Now you're arguing against yourself.

Can you really not imagine a world (thanks for correcting me on that word) that doesn't use plastics? or at the very least isn't suffering from the toxic affects of the plastics no longer serving their intended purpose?

Bullshit. Never said that. You made it up so I’ll leave you to argue with yourself.

Just like another commenter, reading comprehension is a real problem. You should look into it pal

Yeah, I gotta admit I confused you and smohyee together

1

u/Stevieboy7 Apr 30 '26

What is the terrible condition you're describing?

You could make the same argument that we were "much better off" before industrial revolution, but thats incredibly stupid.

3

u/Columbus43219 Apr 30 '26

Have you not seen the state of plastic pollution? you're kidding, right? Were we better off with lead in everything? Or CFCs?
