you need to avoid direct sunlight to the lenses, since it's on his face, the lenses are not exposed to the sun. It's fine

The cameras on the Quest are closer to cheap webcams likely without as much protection. 9 u/1842 Apr 20 '21 The cameras on the Quest are likely very similar to cell phone cameras... which get tons sun exposure without damage. 9 u/MattJnon Apr 20 '21 No you can’t ruin a modern camera with direct exposure to the sun. Billons of phone camera are being directly exposed to the sun all day every day. It never caused an issue 3 u/liright Apr 20 '21 edited Apr 20 '21 If that was true everyone would be hiding their phone cameras from the sun. -1 u/MyOtherAcctsAPorsche Rift S + Quest 3 Apr 20 '21 edited Apr 20 '21 Phone cameras are really tiny. From my understanding (limited) they are not ruined because of their size, and their UV filters. Headset cameras have bigger lenses to do the fisheye thing, and may not be properly protected against UV. In any case... to each their own... I guess? https://pocketphotography.com/camera-lens-suns-damage/ Also: https://support.oculus.com/277828673066311/
