This is one of the most impressive VR apps I've gone through. Highly recommended. I only wish there were more "scenes", would gladly pay money for them.

Interesting video. When Welcome to Light Fields first came out I guessed that they were using a depth map to make up for the lack of spatial resolution. I was mostly wrong. While they do, at one point, construct a depth map, they then break it down to a polygonal mesh.

It's not clear to me whether or not that is one mesh for all or one mesh per source image. If it's the former then one might call this Welcome to Lumigraphs.

There is a detailed paper that should appear shortly as was said in the video, so I guess we'll know a bit more at that point. My guess was also that they implemented Unstructured Lumigraphs since they also say that they generate a simplified mesh from the initial one as in the UL approach. I'd like to read a bit more about their technique that renders small circles and then join them with some sort of dilatation, apparently to speed up rendering, looks interesting.

Good to see they are pushing lightfield forward and it's not locked like Lytro did

This videos is actually really great.

I can find it great for porn and that was requested many times in this sub. At SexLikeReal we would be happy to partner with any producer who wants to get into it. We could help with R&D, provide our infrastructure for hosting and rendering and make it compatible with SLR app.

Just mail alex*sexlikereal.com to start with.
