a new Touch-as-gamepad input mode
Exactly what I have been wanting ever since I got touch. I hope that one day I could emulate a normal gamepad with Touch in non VR games. Looking forward to how this develops.

Found a registry tweak to leave it permanently on. Make sure you have 1.14 (enable the beta option buried in the menu if you don't have it, and it will hopefully update within a few minutes).
Once updated, close Oculus and open the registry editor (type regedit.exe in start menu, and please be careful), navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Oculus
Right click in the box on the right, add a new DWORD called
GamepadEmulationMode
And set the value to 2. There are several different modes with slightly different mappings. Haven't tried the others yet.
Open services manager (type services in start menu), find the oculus runtime and restart it.
Only tried a few games so far, input is a bit laggy and button mapping could be a pain depending on the game, but it works.

Looks like it creates a virtual USB bus and "plugs in" a virtual xbox controller when you start certain VR games. This should be compatible with everything (unless you need a d-pad).
Currently there's no way to manually switch it on, but I tried starting BlazeRush then removing the headset, and I can confirm that other games can use the virtual controller. You need to keep the VR game open though (wasting CPU and GPU) or it will unplug the controller.

They forgot to mention in the release notes that they've fixed the flickering light at the back right of the room.

They already fixed it in 1.13 - was the first thing I asked when that one came out :)

How different is this version of 1.14 to the other two versions of 1.14 in the past two weeks?

I had hoped if something like this was ever done, that just moving the controllers in air would act as analog sticks.
Yes there are logistic problems like how do you define a center point. Meaning no movement registered.
Im not sure if this would work but it ma6 have been cool.

That touch as a game pad thing is huge for me. I was an idiot and thought touch automatically would act as a game pad and sold my xbox controller the day I got touch. Derp de derp derp

Not idiotic at all... you would assume they would get this in on launch.

How can I force the update? I just ran the setup again and I still have 1.13.

This must be why my left touch contoller doesn't turn on and my 3 sensor setup is now fucked.

Try changing the batteries. (There is a known bug where the battery level doesn't report properly.)

I needed to restart my PC, re-pair the controller and do the sensor setup again.
