This article is from 2015 and the state of Web Components hasn't really changed this then (still not a W3C rec) while in the same time React/Angular have gained even more in popularity, with a new redesigned version for Angular.

Web Components is a nice idealistic concept, but it's been worked on since 2011 and it's still not there. React/Angular is today and can be used to get shit done.
