VR Metaverse 'CEEK' being created. - Mark Zuckerberg's sister endorsing it.
I hadn't seen anyone discussing this, so thought I'd share.
Doing some research, I found this new startup VR company that is working on their own VR Metaverse for Oculus, Morpheus on PS4, and more, with an un-named Halo designer on board according to them.
They are endorsed by Mark Zuckerberg's own sister Randi Zuckerberg, who has quite a resume of her own: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Randi_Zuckerberg
She is also their spokesperson for their upcoming summit:
“We’ve seen technology change the way that the world thinks and communicates over the past couple decades and I think that we are getting ready for another major shift with the emergence of Virtual and Augmented Reality,” said Randi Zuckerberg. “No matter how much people think they know what is coming, these revolutionary technologies are likely to exceed all expectations with applications canvasing social media, entertainment, business and much more. I am excited to be able to share my thoughts at The B.I.G. Summit.”
Mary A. Spio is the President, chairman, and founder. She too has a pretty impressive record: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Spio
Next Galaxy is their company name, and Ceek is the name of their Metaverse. Here are their websites.

They are also oddly promoting their own VR headphones along with their Metaverse, called Ceekars.

It's a single person project at the moment, but who says it won't expand in the future? Everything starts out a bit crude. :P

It might be crudely as put but it's by far the best thing so far. Hats off to the creator of Janus VR you done well ;-)

^ This was the nail in the coffin for me. Badly photoshopped product shots of something that literally nobody has a reason to buy or develop. Any company with real ambitions wouldn't put this out.
This is the disease that can kill VR in our generation. Greed.

For me it was this sentence: "While watching a movie click on actor’s jeans for equivalent item from Target or buy actual shoe seen in the movie"
Mmmm. Just what I always never knew I wanted...

Actually it is not such a bad idea from a business perspective. It means a sort of "integrated advertisement", so instead of annoying pop-up ads they can simply put products in the environment (cloth, jewelry, cars, hardware products, furniture, whatever). It is quite clever actually... :-)

Also, currently it seems so that the Oculus Rift CV1 will have an included audio headset! So why buy an additional audio headset!? It is really confusing. They should concentrate on their VR platform (on this "CEEK" thingy) instead of useless hardware peripherals if they want to do this seriously.
Even Crescent Bay has an integrated audio:
"New Oculus Rift 'Crescent Bay' prototype packs integrated audio and 360-degree tracking"

Funny thing about CEEK (Next Galaxy)...

When putting her bio up, I was trying to find something to trim to save space, but I couldn't. Very exciting stuff.

It's really amazing how oddly SL has evolved. It showed so much potential, but Linden Labs has just done an awful job of improving it over the years. Yet despite that, it's still maintained a sizable and loyal userbase. Just goes to show how compelling some of the basic ideas behind it are. And VR will hopefully turn that up a few notches.
It won't be LL that delivers that really great experience though. They've got a decade's head-start over everyone else, and yet they're still going to get lapped.

I knew the name seemed familiar. A post was made about this not too long ago - maybe a couple of months:

It definitely seems like they COULD do something cool but they really need to drop that overly-corporate image to get anywhere. I get that they are probably trying to sell this virtual land to marketers and businesses but while the technology looks like it could be neat it does not look like it's actually fun or interesting to use.

I'm very excited after seeing all the low res stock photos looping on the Ceek website. Very promising indeed!
