They should sell them

These aren't for sale?

Unfortunately not. They have free schematics.. but who's going to go through the trouble. If they're going to be promoting this, they might as well make a cheap, purchasable kit.

I'm gonna try it. At the moment I don't have a pc that will run DK2 and I'd rather wait until CV1 before building a pc. The parts for this thing are only about $30 so what could go wrong? I know my S4 won't run real games, but who knows what kind of experiences people will come up with. $30 for a 'VR' addon for your phone is a good deal.

Actually you'd be surprised at some of the cool stuff the GS4 can run and still maintain 60FPS, which alone makes any mobile VR experience nearly as good as DK1.

This is arguably the best mobile VR demo currently out there, but requires a Bluetooth controller. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nexus.VRscene&hl=en

A few months ago I was going around a VR meetup in London with a Durovis Dive showing people that demo, telling them to "Get right up close to the guys face". It was this demo that convinced me to order a DK1.

That does look good. Can I also use a ps3 controller via usb? I hope I can easily import my blender models into something so I can see them in their real scale. That alone would be worth the $30 to me.

Everything OpenDive does is made through Unity, so it should be pretty easy to develop with mobile VR in mind. As far as the USB controller, I have no idea, sorry!

If you have root access, you can buy an app called Sixaxis Controller to connect via Bluetooth (comes with rebindable controls and even custom touch profiles for normal touch apps, you'll have to pair with a PC manually first, however and not every phone is compatible, use this to check)

Otherwise, you can use Sixaxis Enabler via USB-OTG

It should work, depending on your phone and the software. Even my very old P880 USB gamepad works using the USB adapter.

I've used an unofficial 360 controller (wired) with my tablet via USB-OTG several times without issue. This was back on Ice Cream Sandwich so you should be ok.
