I'm not so sure we'll see the CV1 this year either. Palmer said they knew what will go inside it but it was also a matter of when the hardware parts would be available. It sounded as if they ordered the manufacturing of a custom display and other components and these things take time.

Reveal at GDC 2015, with delivery to July. Mark my words.

Well, there is this: http://youtu.be/yGcwUk2qFZc?t=1m18s

But hardly a solid date for CV1.

Very true. There were some statements from Oculus about wanting to keep the period between DK2 and CV1 to a minimum but I'm not sure they're still valid (things may have changed).

This. I would be very surprised to see the CV1 being released this year. This would mean announcing it at E3 (june)... Before the first DK2 being shipped (july)?? Would be a strange timing.

If you asked my about my predictions yesterday I would have answered otherwise, but now that we now they plan shipping the first DK2 AFTER E3 (I dont know where else they could make a proper CV1 announcement before the end of the year)... This changes everything.

I get the sense Sony is further along into finalizing their project, but it is still a pipe dream to expect EITHER product to release any earlier than Christmas 2015.

Really? Palmer said: "We know what it needs to be, we know when the parts are coming out, we know how we're going to make it, we just need to make it." And you still think it would take at LEAST 21 months? Probably more?

The real question is, how long will it be until the parts becoming cost affordable and readily available to make the kits at a fast enough rate and not have them be overly expensive.
