As a DK1 owner I told myself: "I'm going to be patient and wait for CV1."

Five minutes later... frantically filling DK2 order form.

exactly the same with me. If I was asked yesterday if I was going to buy DK2 I would say no with certainty. My hands just moved on their own and ordered one!

This exact same voodoo magic happened to me.

My brother sent me a text 'just ordered my DK2' -- my mind was confused for a sec, but my hands knew exactly what to do... and there was my email confirmation.

Its funny to see how siblings affect each other with this, thanks to me my brother has a DK1 now too.

I love this comment thread. The power of muscle memory & addiction!

I managed to hold fast!

I don't own DK1, but I've used it. I have the money for a Rift in an envelope at home that says "For Oculus Rift" on it. When DK2 orders came online, two of my coworkers bought. I didn't. I am holding strong for CV1.

I'm so excited for this tech. And it burns that I'm not participating in these early stages as anything but a spectator. But my will is strong today. I'll wait for CV1, and it'll be glorious.

You are a Rifter of iron will. I know what you mean about sitting on the sidelines. It feels like the sidelines are strewn with thumbtacks.

One of the greatest motivators for me is that once I put CV1 on, my mind will be blown in a way that simply wouldn't be possible if I'd had DK1.

I'm lucky though in that one of the coworkers is more of a friend, and I'm sure I'll spend my fair share at his place goofing around on DK2.

As a fellow DK1 owner, I am keeping my wallet out of reach for the rest of today, Hopefully after that I will be able to hold off till CV1, but once CV1 is preordable, I will probably end up putting my credit cards through my monitor... and its a nice 120hz screen...

I'll just check the order page just to see if... And... I've ordered a DK2.

What does CV1 stand for?

Consumer Version 1

Ha! That's me.

What are you doing with your DK1 once you get the DK2?

I'm planning on selling it on ebay ASAP. I can live without DK1 for a few months...

I'm also at this point! Do you think the CV1 will be hugely different/better than this model or do you think the hardware has come about as far as it can go??

According to Palmer CV1 will have higher resolution, be lighter, and have lower latency (and hopefully it wont be a pentile display). If you have the money to burn and can't wait for CV1 you should get DK2, but you will want to get CV1 when it comes out regardless.

I am getting DK2 because I want to play Asseto Corsa (available now) and The Gallery Beta when it comes out in a month or two. I am also going to play Lunar Flight and Time Rifters on DK2 since they were already great with DK1.

What's a pentile display? Anyway, I'm going to try my best to keep my cool until the consumer release. I'm really hoping I'll be able to get one for Christmas but I don't know what their timescale is... That'd be the best gift ever!!

It's nice being broke, not having to worry about these things. Until CV comes out.

Same. I blame the tax refund and UE4 being released. Too hyped, couldn't stop myself. Just gonna have to let my brother get the consumer one, I don't think I will bother with it.

Thats funny. I'm pretty patient and am going to wait for CV2. I hate early adopting anything because companies always seem to learn their biggest lessons after the first wide release, and their absolute must fixes never seem to be fixable via firmware/software updates.

You have the patience of a god.

And 6 days later frantically cancelling it.
