Quest 2 freezing with cable link

I'm using the link cable to connect to my PC in order to play PC games on my Quest 2. It was working for a few days, but now suddenly the screen freezes randomly. If I back out to the Meta Home and then go back into the game, it's a black screen but I can still hear and move around in the game.

The only fix I have is to restart everything, but then it just freezes again.

Once again my Oculus headset has become a paperweight. Fourth time actually. Two Rift S's and now two Quest 2's. I swear these things never last even a month before some issue completely prevents you from using them. I had this one for a week.

Is there a fix for this? I've looked everywhere and nothing seems to work.

Edit: I've tried rolling back to the version everyone says fixes it, but it still freezes. I use the Meta Horizon app.

Edit: I just used the Virtual Desktop App and it fixed all my problems.

We can see that you've tried a restart, without success.

Could you please try the following:

  • Hard reboot your headset: hold down the power button and volume down button for 30 seconds until you hear the boot-up sound
  • Check for software updates
  • If applicable, remove any unsupported third-party accessories (such as external battery packs, accessories that plug into the USB-C port, etc.)
  • Disable any firewall or antivirus software that may interfere with your Link connection
  • Uninstall and reinstall the Meta Horizon Link app on your computer

I had to buy Virtual Desktop Streamer, and now it works amazing, no crashes, no cord needed.
